A beautiful, clear, cool morning for practicing landings at Dauphin Island Jeramiah Denton airport with a touch and go at Fairhope Callahan (KCQF) and return to Roscoe Field, Pensacola. Lots of traffic along the way including learjet, phenom, and TBMs at CQF and Navy and Coast Guard fixed wing training.
Mild east winds provided some crosswind practice. Today's goal was to trial using 2/3 flaps instead of full flaps for normal landingsin the Comanche 250. Results were quite promising with more consistent and less floaty flairs and softer touch downs. The Comanche's laminar flow wing and short gear is well known to provide a challenge for smooth landings.
