This actually gave me a bit more knowledge about antkeeping, but my parents still wouldnt let me get any test tubes. I find queen ants, then leave them alone since I dont really have any chambers for them.

you can make DIY setups like some plastic container filled with sand, substrate, dirt idk and the queen makes her own chamber

question, why won’t they let you get a container(although I would think it’s probably because they think ants are gross and all that😑)? I recommend having your parents watch ants up close(in a video of course ) if they think ants are gross
