Muffler basically destroyed.... Reality: The extreme tip messed up and would take 10 seconds to cut off.

I hope it works out. Anyone reading this and thinks they want to try it the very first thing you want to do is make sure the bus is mechanically sorted before you go any further. It could be thousands of dollars or the cost could be with more then the bus.

I wasn't there. I have no idea if the tow truck was too wide to fit in that narrow area. From the photos it appears the tow truck *could* have fit in that area snugly. If that is true then the only real damage would have been the yard. That truck was big enough to wrestle the bus around till it was lined up for a straight pull and no extraneous damage other than the yard.

the house damages are expensive though the bus you can fix yourself pretty cheap just cut the end of the muffler off and pop the dents back out with a hammer

Make sure the mechanics check the huck bolts on the frame.

So as a bus mechanic I see..... some bumper and hammer love time, and the very end of the exhaust pipe needing to be trimmed.... not the muffler. The suspension front and rear I'm sure are just fine.

The tow company should pay for everything that was damaged. Take them to court you'll get all monies paid in damaged plus repairs on the bus

Don’t worry, the house is sinking too! Born/raised in SF. All the houses on the west side of SF are built on sand and are always sinking.

Something cool that I saw with another bus build, you can flip the red and amber warning lights in the back of the bus, and wire them to the twilights for more lighting. You can also do this with the front and just leave the red one unused. Thought that was cool

damn and i always thought that code officials who busted balls about not having some sort of textured surface to park your vehicles on were assholes but now seeing the aftermath of what happens when you don’t put enough thought into where youre gonna leave something. absolutely nuts thank goodness it didnt take your house with it.

Reading the comments a lot of diss on here but when we do something silly/dumb people always poke fun at you. Most ppl aren't really being mean just dissing in a sarcastic way. So don't take it to personally, we have all done dumb things at some point in our life. Then afterwards we ask ourselves what the hell was I thinking lol.... Glad you got the bus out. I bet it was a very expensive lesson. I had one of these type of moments with a bobcat heavy-equipment forgot to put the blade down and lock the break. When I got off the bobcat it took off rolling down the mountain side it got stuck in a tree but that tree keep it from going all the way down to the bottom for which there would have been no hope of getting it out except maybe by Helicopter. Had to get one of those big heavy-duty tow truck to come pull it back up it was not a easy task and it was a 800 dollar lesson. All this for a cigarette that's why I got off the bobcat in the first place. It was the most expensive cigarette I have had Lol.... I didn't hear the end of this mistake for a long time I got a lot of smart ass remarks most in good sarcastic fun lol... I think most of us had one of those type of big stupid moment. If your going to make a dumb mistake Go Big I did and it looks like you did too lol.... How did you get the bus in the backyard? If you got the bus in why was it hard to get out?
