Here in Finland we have hundreds and hundreds of 3070Ti's and 3080Ti's now sitting in storages of retailers, because no one is buying them for the monstrous pricing. Just checked couple of retailers, most models 25+ or 50+ pieces in stock. It has gone over the line where the prices are actually too high for the retailers to get them sold. Then, months later, they need to drop the prices to get any money back, taking massive loses. This is what it has become.

I'm 58 years old, the first real video game I ever played was Daggerfall. I currently have a 2700x/RX580 system. I would love to do one more upgrade in my life and call it good, but I will never pay these prices...I refuse. I have plenty of older games I can play, I just hope my RX580 holds on for a while. I do want to say to Jay I enjoy your assessments of this stuff. You are very reasonable and logical, and thats a good combo.

I gave up buying a video card. I’m now just going to live with what I have till I can walk into a Best Buy without waiting in line and spend no more than a weeks salary to buy it. Could be I may never be able to buy another video card ever again, so be it. RIP nVidia and AMD.

Here in Russia I had the same experience on the official Nvidia site. There was *NO* moment it was on sale - it instantly switched from "coming soon" to "not available". DISGUSTING.

You're seeing a reduction in scalping because the retailers are beating them to it!

I was literally on the website waiting when the refresh happened and it never went on stock, not for 3 hours after its "release" it was "coming soon" until about 3pm EST and then was updated to state it was out of stock. I even called Best Buy and was told they didn't have any in stock, though they didn't say that they never received any, I just assumed at first that I missed it or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

In the UK the 3070Ti FE dropped 2 weeks later (unannounced). There were zero on release day just like in the US. There were some on ebay within minutes of the drop for double purchase price. Fire your researcher, the info that card drops did happen but later is easily found on the internet

Here in the UK we have all the FE cards, albeit at 1.5x msrp

From my understanding, only BestBuy in Canada carries the FE. At least in Ontario

3070Ti FE appeared for sale in Europe on June 18th. I have a friend who has one and several now available on eBay in UK as mentioned by another poster. 3060 didn’t have an FE (Ti did).

Got a 3070 ti in Germany. MSRP price. There was no stock on release but they did drop a week after.

Here in Australia with the Covid-19 lockdown, most larger computer stores are only taking online orders, with many accepting payment on components that aren't available yet. For the popular items there's usually a limit on how many you can order (ie; only one GPU on the more affordable ones), but that wouldn't stop scalpers who'd probably have multiple online accounts under different names (& credit-cards to match). The scalpers place multiple pre-orders as soon as the item is listed, & once they receive the must-have item/s they post them on eBay, etc., & that's why there's none in stock the day before the store has had a chance to even list them as available!

TSMC factories are on a small island that has water shortages now too. Western countries build your own factories already, stop cheaping out!

I was at the micro center in St.David's, PA for the launch of the rtx 3080ti. There were no founders edition cards available.

There's a lot of 3070 Ti FE being sold on fb ebay and other market places in EU and UK.

I had the same issue with it going straight Out of Stock, but there's loads of 3070ti FE on the UK ebay.

I was on their UK website hitting refresh on release day for the 3080FE. It instantly went to sold out ont here too. 2 months later I was still trying to get one for RRP. I emailed Jensen Huang CEO of Nvidia and asked him to help me get one and a few days later got an email back like hed been contacting retailers in the UK to see who had stock in or coming in and to order one via head of mail order sails at Scan.co.uk. Got the 3080FE the very next morning. Jensen is now my friend.

In the UK a retailer called Scan was selling FE 3070 Tis a few weeks ago at MSRP. They sold out super fast but they were in stock for about 10-15 minutes before they were all sold out. Haven't seen any since then though.

There also seemed to be no FE cards at all in Best Buy's drop today.

I was wondering about that! I went to my local best buy and they had a sign up specifically saying the 3070ti wasn't available. None of the other models mentioned, just the 3070ti.

Until there is a real competition on this market they will never have to explain anything.. In Western Europe only LDLC is allowed to sell FE and I think they received only few dozens 3070ti since launch... Does this card really exist ?

6 on offer up locally but best buy did just receive stock that sold out before the doors even opened and people were reselling them out of their cars in the parking lot before even leaving best buy(sin) but quite a few 3070ti here local in Seattle Washington

Hi Jay! Living in France, the official retailer for FE cards (LDLC) sold few cards on June 18th. Maybe they only got the same kind of 3070 ti you got but yes I saw some cards available on the LDLC store. About the quality of the cards themself, I have no idea. For the French card, we did indeed have a drop on june 17, i was able to order one, so i guess that's where it came from.

I can see production quality being the reason. I got an FE 3090 from Best Buy October 2020 and the fins on my card out the box were jacked up! Both fans were making the grinding noise and I had to bend fins in 6-7 different areas per fan to get the noise to stop. A lot of my fins on my 3090 look the same as your 3070 ti, out of position, bent, gaps etc... I was pretty disappointed when I was inspecting it out of the box but I managed to make it work. Runs great now but took a lot of tinkering to get it there.

In the Netherlands the 3070ti FE finally came in stock and my friend bought 1 for mrsp

I just wanted to let everyone know that I won first pick out of 50+ people at the microcenter raffle on my very first attempt, and I got the 3090, and it doesn't fit into my build lol

here in germany we have like 7 3070 ti FE cards listed on ebay. 3 more over in france. but still looks like low overall number of cards.

I thought it was suspicious that Best Buy had 3080 Ti for purchase at the store, but no 3070 Ti in-store. I asked Best Buy manager the day before and he said there was zero in-store allocation. Then the online release didn't have the normal early morning launch, but happened around noon PST. It was probably a few hundred for the whole country.

On the release date, there wasn't even a buy tab giving you option to purchase the card... It was the same situation with SCAN UK with their website, on release date there was still no buy option to purchase the damn thing.

Were the retail stocks of the card on the Ever Given in shipping containers and with it been impounded on the suez by Egyptian authorities they are still on that ship waiting to reach destinations.

Those ads of yours for World of Warships are getting better 😎 It certainly isn't boring when a manufacturer does a "market probe" with an on-paper prototype. However, whilst I recognise Nvidia may not want its GPUs in the hands of scalpers, this was the not the way to do that. The company NEEDS to learn to wait until its factories are available at full capacity next year - they're already promoting Omniverse, so I think they should focus on that and expanding DLSS support.

Sounds plausible, you would expect top tier manufacturing of a card from Nvidia at the price they want to see it at, even if it is below market.

Every single retailer has been asking scalping prices for the cards here, and they never even had stocks. Even if the 3070Ti actually launches, I will never have the chance to gert one
