The reason the MC1 PRO is taller is because it will allow double sided drives with chips on both sides , amazing video experiment that you have done

Thank you for your video! I got the MC1 for my 970 Evo Plus 2TB, desktop w/2 fans front & 1 rear. Without cooling, the controller reached 94C with Crystal Mark. With the MC1 it went down to 65, same room temp. Very impressive!!

For the first step of installation which side of the sdd did u have facing up I can’t tell which side should be facing down against the thermal and which side should be facing up?
@pavloskaramanis22075 місяців тому
The side with the factory sticker should be up, it is the side you see after you place the ssd to the base of the MC1@@stevienashville5341

Don't unplug your power supply. Doing so will remove the ground from the motherboard. If you must unplug, run a ground strap from the case to a ground.

I'm currently looking for a cooler for the SSD on the rear of my motherboard. Space is tight so the more low profile the cooler is the better. Would you be able to tell me the total thickness of the coolers when they are fully assembled with an SSD inside of them? I've been trying to find the dimensions online but can't find anything reliable
@TurkOglu19902 роки тому
While sandwiching the drive, to set it good on can u slide alittle to line up wont thay harm the stickyness of the cooler? Hope u understand what i say sir.
@High.on.Life_DnB2 роки тому
If you're considering one of these for your PS5, don't get the MC1 Pro version, it won't fit and you can't get the cover back on.
@billanten78622 роки тому
I just did and it fits you just have to put the cover to the holes on one side and just push down the other side with your fingers and then just put the screw and turn it , the cover is flexible and holds well enough.
@adamsam93322 роки тому
@@billanten7862 no dont do that if you force it the cover will touch the cooler and it will increase the heat

I got mine for cheap 2 dollars china brand. Almost the same performance, mine is max temp 51° room temp 27°c. I tasted multiple times but i came to the most effective one. Putting thermal pad to the controller chip and leave the nand flash chip vacant and not touching the heat sink. I actually test that the controller is hotter than the nand flash so i didn't need to put the thermal pad and heat sink on the ssd.

If i use one for a second ssd in the m2 slot beneath my graphics card it probably won't fit being so high ye? Like the card will not click in cuz of the height of the ssd with the cooler? Did some1 try that? Guess thats why there's no factory cap there in the second slot. Edit: i use msi X470 pro carbon motherboard, my 2nd slot is not beneath the gpu but like exactly under it.

I have two WD_black SN770 2TB installed in my system. The one connected to the cpu, was using the MB Heatsink, just like the one in the video. But it was reaching 89ºc in the nand, when copying. The other one connected to chipset, is using one from a Chinese manufacture, the cost me 15€, and the max temp is 66ºc. So i bought another one, and the temp changed to 66ºc max, idle is 56ºc. The funny thing, not so funny is that the one connected to the ChipSet is faster than the one connected to the CPU, even that the speed of the bus is the same in both 4x PCIE 4.0, and the GPU is at 16x 4.0.. I don´t understand how, it should be the opposite.

In my old desktop when I turned off the PSU the light from the GPU would stay lit for about 25 seconds or so, but with the PSU off, then pushing the on button on the desktop makes the light disappear almost instantly letting me know there shouldn't be any power left in the system.

Anyways it is a great mistake and this Video which is great has proven me right in choosing. One thing to actually prove is if is going fit good enough since it will be basically under the GPU EVGA RTX Geforce 3070 Ti FTW3 and I will not consider moving GPU to lower PCI-E slot no sir. 19:25 talk about loosing parts....there us a screw in your graphic cards heatsink - where it's not supposed to be 🤣🤣
@Bill_v110 місяців тому
SSDs like to be warm, but not hot. Don't over cool. If you have a relatively powerful SSD, the factory heatsink is sufficient. If it doesn't come with a heatsink, something like the MC1 is plenty. Yes, there are users that are constantly moving huge amounts of data and are stressing the SSD for hours. These folk want the best cooling they can get. For the rest of us, including gamers and non-pro video editors, basic cooling is just fine. If you're a light user or have a moderate SSD, no heatsink needed. Seriously, don't over cool. You'll shorten the life of your SSD. There are conditions where the SSD is boxed in, with no airflow (e.g. PS5), where anything you can do to give it some cooling is a good thing.
@keancv2 роки тому
Love the video, gave you a thumbs up. As politely as possible, there are ssd coolers like yours that have their own laptop fan. What you have is good but not really a permanent solution
