My Grandma is about to die of COVID-19 tonight or tomorrow. She has also been suffering from dementia for years. Her husband, 92, will survive her. I cant help but match nearly every lyric in this whole song to their situation. The husband in the song is unable to tell her that he is there for her even though she cant see him. My Grandma didn't see her husband for 7 weeks because of mandatory isolation cause she tested positive. As a sailor this song makes me think of two lovers who tried to live on the ocean together, forever, sailing from place to place till they grow old. Later they realize they had lied to each other about a lot of stuff and probably had some in-healed mental issues and trauma and all this resulted in them screaming and fighting often. But in the end they still loved each other. And even though they eventually died of old age in the ocean, their bodies reached the shore safely due to their trusty sailing vessel. Their bodies were found lying on the deck holding hands, bodies carried safe to shore. ❤

This makes me feel things I don't understand. Nostalgia for a world I never knew, longing for a love I've never met, hope in an existence where it makes no sense to be hopeful.

I would of course look it up and do more research if you truly care, but I just thought it was sad. It's only now that I realized how meaningful is this song. If I didn't misunderstand, this song is about an old widow complaining to her husband's soul and wanna suicide so that she can meet her husband. She said she hates the empty house which made her felt lonely. She felt sad that she can't even dress and didn't know whether she was correct or wrong. However, her husband consoled her, said that it was her brain playing tricks on her. Her husband asked her not to listen to his sound, which was telling her not to suicide.
