My step-dad is a dairy farmer, he rents some of his land out to a local shepherd over winter each year. A couple of years ago a brook burst it's banks and the shepherd lost 5 sheep to drowning. All they had to do it walk 10 feet until they reached a hill, but they all decided to stay where they were until they were cut off from the hill by the flood. Not a lick of sense in them.

Minus the death part.. About the shepherd, it's like leader of rivals. It's like USA & USSR, North & South Korea, etc. They r rival but actually not that rival. But in the process of their rivalry, they get lot of casualties. Their own ppl.

It's about religion. The shepherds are religious leaders. The sheep wanted to commune until their shepherds "branded" them. Then they attacked each other over their "differences." Religion or politics, take your pick.
