You're not wrapping up when you have the head down. Head up, wrap up, take him down. You want to hit hard but this leads to broken tackles. Sure, I like a nice hit, wrapping up and taking down isn't as fun to watch, but it stops scoring. Look at Bellichik's disciplined defenses over 2 decades; no showy crack pow highlights, they just efficiently put guys to the ground and kept points off the board, allowing avg 14 points a game

I am not a fan of high scoring football game they need to find away to make defensive relevant again. I am glad neither young man was severely injured. I was taught as a linebacker to square up and see the numbers your hitting just seems like now you get ejected for playing a contact sport.

He initiated contact with the crown of his helmet, that's an automatic penalty every single time. It leaves the tackler at risk for a serious head injury or even a broken neck. Every level of football is trying to eliminate this type of tackle. It was not clean, it was an illegal hit.

He wasn't ejected for hitting the QB. He was ejected for using the crown of his helmet to hit another player. He's notorious for doing this, but he refuses to change his form, so he's going to keep getting ejected in high profile games where there's a lot of scrutiny, just like the year before when he was ejected in their game against LSU.

If you think that kind of hit happens all the time in the NFL then there would be a lot of players getting paralyzed because he didn't have his head high up enough. Hitting players with your head that low does not happen in the NFL. Heads up higher yes but not with the crown.

The last thing we need is more young football players becoming national news for breaking their necks and ending up with a spinal cord injury. Do you want football to last?
