It really was. My neighbor was a fan of 18 and I of 12. We lived next to each other from 98-11 so it was a lot of fun getting to watch both, and even more in the playoffs. We lost touch, so we never got to see the new decade the way we did the first run. It's tough to find a comparable rivalry for this era.

I think when it comes to the 'goat' conversation people bring up Brady allot. Obviously the Rivalry and comparisons will always exist, but the way I see it is, when Manning retired he was leading in stats. If Manning decided to retire at 44-45 like Brady, he'd still have the stat lead, but obviously he retired earlier, and it is what it is. Long careers = better stats, that's logic. Its why Drew Brees will retire with better stats than Brady in some area's, yet, I think we can all agree that Brady is better. So stat's aren't something you can brag about when you're in the league for longer than someone else. Brady and Manning are honestly 2 different QB's. The way I break it down is; Brady was crafted into what he was, but he also had sheer determination to be the best he could be and despite all odds, he is now considered 'the goat'. He is a once in a lifetime story. He inherited the throne of a healthy empire and led it to many victories. Nobody looks at great empires and complains about how they had 'advantages' by having stronger economies or being technologically advanced. No, they talk about how they conquered everybody and were awesome. But, just like those who inherit empires, he, alongside bill, kept his empire healthy and got W's. The only adversity he faced was his opponents, and the challenges within himself to be great, but he kept his team great throughout many era's, and that's not easy to do. The patriot dynasty will always be remembered for being led by Brady, and his run is by far the most impressive run there is. He is a king who led an empire to next levels of greatness. Manning on the other-hand was a natural QB, came in very talented, didn't have to prove himself, and put numbers on the board. When you're looking at a 'natural', someone born to be a QB, that's Manning. He had things that Brady just didn't have. He also faced adversity within his own team, several coaches, massive roster changes, etc etc, but despite that, he still put W's on the board. That's a big deal, and people pretend it isn't. Luck came into the colts, and with a bad coach and bad picks, he got destroyed and retired early. Manning faced similar adversity throughout his career, and he did get hurt a few times, but despite that, he basically spent most of his time he could've as a QB and faced those issues head on and came out on top. He had an nation with a shakey foundation and still found W's for it and put it on the map. He was able to be the reason why the Colts VS Patriots Rivalry even existed, which is pretty impressive if you think about it. As a colts fan, Peyton will always be the goat to me, just off of sheer talent, ability, and natural leadership skills, he put the Colts on the ap, but when we're talking accolades, and who had the best run in the NFL, Brady is the goat, and its undisputed in that area, and I accept when people say Brady is the goat, because they do present reasonable arguments. Accolades are important, how else do we measure success? The NFL is a team game, and Brady won at the NFL, Peyton won at a more personal level, at a less noticeable level, but nobody cares about that, and that's just the reality of it.

It is so hard to believe that Manning has been done playing for 5 years. And... we're nearly 10 years past him signing with the Broncos. Where in the world does the time go?

The AFC had Manning, Brady, and Big Ben all at once. It's no wonder the AFC representative to the SB was always one of those 3

Yep. Between 2001-18, only Rich Gannon (2002) and Joe Flacco (2012) broke up the run of Peyton, Tom, and Ben quarterbacking the AFC in the Super Bowl.

Since I was a little too young to remember the Super Bowl wins of the late 90s, the four years of Peyton Manning as a Bronco were the best years of football I've ever watched. Every year you had him you were guaranteed at least 10 wins, and 12 was a "bad" year. Now you can't even hope for 12 wins in 2 years as a Broncos fan. We sure miss Peyton!!

"Disregard the audible alright? Disregard the audible" lol he was literally screaming audibles to mess with the defense but not actually calling audibles all the time. Love it.

I love Peyton! Volunteer for life! It's funny hearing the commentators speak about how old he is when he's in his late 30's. Especially as a POG when I served with warfighters that still ran an 18 minute 3 mile run in their forties and early fifties. Crazy how damaging football is to these dudes...

At his peak and when he was on, he was the most dominant player week to week in NFL history. Even moreso than Brady. His stats were just ridiculous and he was always a few steps ahead of everyone else on the field and on the opposing sideline.

It's crazy cause when I look at the QBs today like Mahomes, Lamar, Kyler, and I think Wilson is they have a lot of athleticism so they can make really beautiful throws or scrambles then a throw. Especially Mahomes the way he looks like a magician out there. But Peyton is very fundamental, everything is textbook but his mind was that X Factor
