Did the first base coach take his foot off the base. If a first base coach has to tell you to know where the ball is after you made it to base you shouldnt be playing baseball

Wow. The base runner should know. It's hilarious that this is a debate. Call time, make sure that time has been given, MAKE...SURE...THAT TIME...IS GIVEN, then you can get off the bag. Really not that hard to understand.

Except in that instance. He actually paid attention, knew the fielder was going to pull off the hidden ball trick. Of course that was before he started pulling his hat down over his eyes.

Not with me, I always called a time out after a slide, stolen base when it came to me adjusting myself after being called safe. We never did plays like this, we called it "Busch league"..

​@@weimeier No, it's literally just negligence on the part of the base runner. They can call timeout whenever they want and they are allowed to step of the bag to compose themselves or do anything they need to do. These dudes were just not paying attention/too lazy to put a hand up

​@@gdawgs101a lot of people just don't think it's worth stopping the game for something that isnt even likely to happen. Make everyone stop the game so they can scratch their ass. It's essentially like calling offside on a soccer player for being behind the defensive line. "Ohhhh he should've paid attention!" I mean sure but stopping the player being able to have a quick break while adding 0 to the game competitively is dumb af in most people's opinion

I really don't understand why people think it's "unsportsmanlike." This is baseball fundamentals. If you step off the bag and get tagged, you're out. Pay attention and make sure you know where the ball is before you step off. What those people call "unsportsmanlike," I call "stupid baserunning."

Exactly. If you aren't absolutely certain where the ball is, either ask for time or don't step off.
