Kinsdoge I’m pretty sure this is an American thing. I’m almost 26 and I live in Portugal. Not once was I made fun off for watching anime. Heck, my uncle would miss university classes with his friends to watch dragon ball.

So anyway I started blasting...

So anyway, *I started Naruto running with a gun in my mouth and shot up the local mall and stole every anime related item and grabbed as many strangers as I could find then forced them to cosplay being held at gun point and then I went home and began binge watching Boku No Pi- I mean Hero Academia and then rewatched Naruto and sailor moon and every pokemon series ever*

I wonder if you all know how lucky you all are. I was in the transitional period where anime was picked up by the big and strong people, but people were still making fun of weebs, geeks and freaks. Hearing what people had to go through before my time, I'm lucky. Life is easier.

It can be pretty hard sometimes, especially at first, but I believe that optimism and enthusiasm go a long way (I'm not optimistic acc, only when it comes to teaching bc it helps others). I think the most important thing to keep a club going is the rapport you have with the students - just ask them about their day, what they're drawing at the moment, if any tea happened in class, and open up to them a little too- tell them about yourself, something random that happened to you etc. I'm an introvert myself, but I have a habit of putting myself outside my comfort zone as ik it's important for self-development. I also recommend dragging in a couple friends to help you, art friends too, so that you have a support network and not all the lesson pressure is on you. One of my friends was a lot more introverted than me and was really afraid to speak in front of a class, but as time went on they got more and more comfortable and they can now do so many more things that they were afraid to do before, it was really amazing to see their journey in opening up- so don't worry, keep going, as passion and some hard work and time can get you places! Don't know if this is helpful, but I tried.😅
