To be fair, a lot of baristas in that big coffee company seem to have selective hearing anyway, so... 🤷🏻♀️

How difficult is it to screw up the name "Sam"? Stupid people. I love all three and seeing them in this form considering those Wentworth Prison scenes...... Talented all the way around.

People screw up my last name, Rice, all the time. It's "too simple." They just can't seem to believe it really is just Rice!
@camillabarclay40492 роки тому
Laughing out loud at this 🤣🤣
@Paulasantos.3 роки тому
I have to agree, their names are unusual ...the three... but they are awesome ⭐⭐⭐
@Xaforn3 роки тому
😆 love moments like this, but seriously you can’t go anywhere where they put your name on your order it seems and they actually get it right. Not even my son and he uses 2 letters haha or my dad, so no surprise they can’t do Sam either. I’ve missed things because they refuse to pronounce my name right as well

I always come back to this and die laughing 🤣

I've noticed a pattern with a lot of irish names. When there are two successive vowels, the second one is mute, like Sinéad, Ciaràn, Riordan and Caitriona of course... I don't know much about the consonants but in these cases, the "S" is a "Sh" and the "C" is a "K".

I'm still wondering why Barbara is so hard to spell! It is "2 bar)s and an "a"!
@hoganrichard96273 місяці тому
How could ANYONE screw up "Sam"? And "Toadias" doesn't even make sense. It could be worse. I've heard "Toe bias".👣

@rackpunch40263 роки тому
He can't even pronounce his OWN name - it's Mingiss
@hoganrichard96273 місяці тому
He says it with a London drawl, y'all. "Menziss".
@_birdie5 років тому
i love the guy but Menzies has to be one of the worst last names ever.
@AJM-GariochQuine5 років тому
Indeed - however, this will blow your mind. It's a Scottish name although the actor is English. Ironically Clan Menzies were staunch Jacobites and fought for the Bonnie Prince at Culloden. Here in Scotland, the correct pronunciation of Menzies is actually Mingis. It can be used as a first name and may then be shortened to Ming. Like Sam, Tobias has Anglicised the pronunciation of his name as the Scottish version seems to cause confusion... everywhere but Scotland that is (and probably parts of Canada). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_Menzies - gives a wee audio link BTW Heughan is pronounced HewCH-an. The CH is the Scottish guttural sound in loch (not lok) or Bach (not Bak). Linguistically the sound is a 'voiceless velar fricative'! Check it out on this video (at 1.28) where the interviewer asks Sam how to pronounce his surname. ukposts.info/have/v-deo/jZ55lZ6xpapm2X0.html

@@AJM-GariochQuine Yep, Scots didn't really make use of the letter Z however with the invention of the printing press they tended to replace the letter with a Z, it's a letter common to all Germanic languages. Even MacKenzie would have been more like Mac-Ken-ye or Mac-Ken-Ge
@AJM-GariochQuine5 років тому
@@nutyyyy Indeed. In Gàidhlig na h-Alba the 'alphabet' consists of only 18 letters - there's no J,K,Q,V,W,X,Y or Z, but vowel and consonant combinations make some very unusual sounds and in common with other Celtic languages there are many 'silent' letters (very confusing until you get used to it)!
@jasminmenzies97592 роки тому
Just wow buddy 😅
@ObservingAllThereIs4 роки тому
Let's be honest. Caitriona Balfe's parents are severely dyslectic and had no idea how to spell "Caterina". Don't blame people who can spell correctly, see a mess of letters and bravely try to pronounce what they actually read, cause everybody who read her name for the first time had no idea thát pronunciation was in order. 😜
@albah76374 роки тому
Caitriona is the gaelic version u know?? 😂
@diannebdee4 роки тому
@@albah7637 I love how some people are ignorant of the various spellings vis a vis the different cultures. I have Welsh in my background through my father. Try making sense of all those consonants.
@lindseystraley95962 роки тому
@@diannebdee I just learned the other day that Llio is pronounced Cleo and was mindblown. I'm learning Gaelic but that Welsh spelling (while really pretty, actually) threw me for a loop.
