The moon goddess is the Chinese goddess Chang'e. She was married to an archer named Hou Yi, who was famous for shooting down nine of the ten suns that scorched the Earth. Hou Yi was given an elixir of immortality as a reward. But he wanted to take it with Chang'e. When Hou Yi was out hunting, some people tried to take the elixir from Chang'e, so she drank it. She ended up drinking too much, flew upward towards the heavens and landed on the moon. She's been on there ever since.

Glenn Keane is a legendary Disney artist. He directed Tarzan and designed the characters as well as did much else. A brilliant animator. Like a Michael Jordan of animation in the industry. His figure drawing is amazing as the hand animated elements her e show.

This honestly made me sob. The message of accepting loss and moving forward while acknowledging you aren’t forgetting or leaving behind the one that’s passed is really strong. I lost a friend of mine a few years ago to Suicide. This entire movie made me think of them

This movie was so beautiful. It teaches you to let go and move on then accept new changes. The story was so clear and detailed. It had me in tears especially the part when Fei Fei and the moon goddess comforted each other since they also shared the same emotion. Highly recommended to watch guys. Well done Netflix ❤️

I just watched the movie and let me tell you, I was tearing up in a lot of the scenes and one particular scene at the end had me sobbing. What the hell was that? I didn't expect it to hit that hard. I loved the message that they tried to convey to the audience. This trailer literally shows nothing (only shows glimpses of about 20 -25 min of the beginning of the movie and the rest of the hour is undetermined in the trailer). I'm not going to spoil anything but I totally recommend people to watch this. It's an absolute gem. Also on a side note, I absolutely loved the cultural representation in here and loved the heartbreaking/bittersweet story of Chang'e.

The fact at first I thought this would be another basic film about someone who was obsessed with space and wanted to go to the moon and wouldn't watch it. But when I was bored and had nothing to watch I gave it a try and it is now my favourite film is amazing. I am so lucky I was study and wanted somthing to watch in the background or I would never learnt how to deal with my grief and hear such incredible songs and a heart warming,emotional plot

The only movie animation that made me cry. It was so beautiful and not your typical movie. What really hits hard is the fact that it is has a hidden message. Audrey Wells, who died from cancer wrote it as a parting message for her daughter and husband.

The creators created their eyes so beautifully! It's the first movie I saw with so much beautiful animated characters! (No one awkward looking) plus the main character is sooo adorable! Not forgetting the VA's

January 11th. 2021. Lost my grandma today, who I grew up with my whole life. The part when Chang'e started singing, "I know you're feeling sadness, I see it in your eyes, the pain is overwhelming, when a loved one dies." Hit hard, I cried so much. Like I was meant to watch this movie today.

Me and my 4y.o daughter love Over the Moon. I think the story was something different from the other kids movies. I like that it’s about moving on and opening your heart to other people. It’s good for kids who have experienced loss.. it could be like fei fei who lost a parent or someone close or could be a pet. I think this movie would inspire kids to move on. I always cried on the first times we watched this. As a mother, I couldn’t imagine if I have to leave my family esp if my kid is still very young. We love this movie so much, my daughter watched this every single day for 3 mos Or atleast watch the soundtracks if not the movie. We have bought the dolls too

i watched this a while ago and to tell you honestly, this is by far my favorite animated movie of 2020. the storyline, the colors, the songs, the emotions, and the lesson 🥺 aaaaah they're just on point. 11/10 must watch 💕💕 it's so so amazing :))
