Clever repartee doesn't equate to moral or ethical fundamentals. All it does is encourage people who aren't as clever to turn to physicality if their core beliefs are endangered. Look at the state of the current student bodies and recent (past 10-15 years) alumni as opposed to what it used to be pre 2010 and there’s your answer. Also Oxbridge has been desperately and frantically enrolling ‘diverse’ students for the past decade and a half so much so to the point where being Muslim or black - regardless of your grades and moral values - gets you an instant tick. Unfortunately both Oxford and Cambridge are being turned into ghettos for the ‘disadvantaged minorities’ who have absolutely no desire to respect or learn about the culture and heritage of Oxbridge and instead would rather smear the very foundations of both institutes with their unBritish and uncivilised rhetoric and behaviours.

In politics emotions have mattered more than facts forever. In fact they exactly teach that it in university's debate groups how to evoke emotions in listeners to help support your point and all these populist politicians with posh accents begin to pick up their skill of talking bullshit and get away while in universities like Oxford and Cambridge. That's because while on one hand these institutions are indeed putting out scientific work that is genuine on other side of it - these institutions are also play club for rich and clever boys where they are learning to game the system.

Its beyond embarrassing that these places are supposed to be places of higher learning meaning these people are supposed to have educations/intelligence above the norm hence the "higher learning" these people should be able to think objectively based off facts and separate emotions yet every one comes up with an emotionally charged argument, speaking in condescending tones and clearly only up there to "win an argument" and not have a discussion. These children using serious real world issues to show their virtue is embarrassing and disgusting, they literally keep calm open debates from happening and actively keep us from progressing as a species. This resulted in the Golden Age of Islam while still keeping humans within the border of moral sanity. That is so beacuse the Quran calls people to use their intellect. Philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, medicine and much more flourished. This idea of "sapere aude!" preceded Kant by more than a thousand year. The dark ages was more advanced than us when it comes to morality, yet they lacked the study of sciences. And when enlightment came, the opposite happened. The West advanced, however, they starting losing faith, consequently leading to Nietzsche's "God is dead". That resulted in the first and second WW. What do we learn from that? That the right way is the middle way. Not too cold, not too warm. Not too high, not too low. Humans must both submit to God and their intellect.
