Clottey broke my heart that dawn , when he could have won the fight if he had his game up. I still strongly believe Clottey sold that fight. He could have beaten pac man hands down .he fought according to plan just for the money and not the legacy at stake. I watched this fight live at the Cowboy Arena. Pacquiao was frustrated, the crowd was frustrated. Some chanting “we want fight!” And we drove all the way from Houston just to see Clottey let himself be just a punching bag all night.

Well, the reason why he had troubles against Horn (I fucking don't care who you think won that fight but you can't deny the fact that Horn gave Manny a very tough close fight) is because although Pacquiao were fighting big guys, these fighters are at best mid-range fighters and don't usually use their size to maul their opponents: Mosley, Matthysse, Thurman, Algieri, even Mayweather are all long or mid range fighters. Sure, Cotto, Margarito and even de la Hoya knows how to use their size but those fights are at catch weights. Horn is the first BIG Welterweight that Pacquiao fought that uses his size to bully his opponent. My point then? The reason why Pacquiao has success against bigger guys is because he's basically picking opponents that favors his style. Big mid range fighters who don't bully so their size were actually a disadvantage for them and advantage for Manny.

People ask why Clottey didn’t throw any punches but he said later he had a lot of issues with receiving less money and management: “When I fought Pacquiao, I decided I was just going to defend myself. I wasn’t going to put my life on the line for people who did nothing, but take from me. It was all about business for Vinny. Pacquaio hits hard with both hands and while he could not get to Clottey’s chin, hammered the body round after round. Clotted had to be in tremendous shape to take it. Clottey still had zip in his punches late in the fight and Manny never broke his will to fight. Clottey was in with the PacMan, who can let his hands go for 12 rounds. We may never see another fighter like Manny Pacquaio.

despite lack of engagement from clottey, it was still a fight you want to see, It was an airtight defense against a fiery offense. Pacquiao was able to showcase his all arsenal in this fight despite clottey not just being massive compared to him but also was at his peak form. The conditioning was just top level from both fighters, to have a production like that and the ability absorb punches at any angles and not able to show signs of weakness is just extraordinary. Imagine this kind of clottey against mayweather, it would be just a staring game.

Here is one fight where we see the Beauty of Fighting Defensively. Defence does not win points but it doesn't get you knocked out easily. It's murder to fight someone like Pacquiao head on! Look what he did to Hatton before. By raising your guard, you prevent Knockout by stalling the fight and making the fight more unappealing to the audience. This was one of Pacquiao's boring fights.
