Korean society is so crazy to me. They can tear someone's life to shreds for being involved in drugs, even pushing them to suicide. Yet, in cases like the Burning Sun scandal, where there is real evidence of men sa'ng women, people like Seungri receive only a 1-year prison sentence. Additionally, Junhyung remains free, and both of them still have fans supporting them. I will never understand it, honestly, and it makes me so mad. May he rest in peace; it's such a sad and unjust case.

I was in Seoul when the previous president No's wife was being investigated for bribery. No was enemy no 1 then he jumped off a cliff and it was insane. I'm talking weeks of funeral parades, loud truck memorials to him, often blocking traffic and being a nuisance. I even walked in on my husband crying to a tribute video one day. The lead investigator resigned and apologized, everyone blamed him for just doing his job. Iirc, he admitted his wife had taken the money to pay off personal debts. His daughter later was found guilty for not reporting a wire transfer using 1.3 billion won of money her mother had been given from guests and friends when they visited while her husband was president. No's brother was also found guilty for taking almost 3 billion won in bribes. They haven't bothered investigating No posthumously and seem to have decided to let his wife slide. I get that it is pointless to go after a dead man but the whiplash of public sentiment was wild to see in person

Two major points to add: 1. Bong Joon Ho, the Parasite director, and the Association of Solidarity of Cultural Arts demanded an investigation into the police’s handling of Lee Sun Kyun’s investigation. Why was so much information provided to KBS, one of the major Korean broadcast networks? KBS also ran provocative pieces on Lee Sun Kyun’s personal life and police investigation updates. 2. Celebrities are being used as distractions from other scandals. In this case, it was the current president of Korea’s wife who was accused of stock manipulation and taking bribes. She recently had another scandal “Dior Bag”. That’s why Bong Joon Ho & the other artists are asking for the investigation - to protect celebrities from being used as easy scapegoats & political armor.

They dig in cases obsessively if they can potentially make the president and the ruling party look good. They leak info to the media, although they shouldn't, and blow things out of proportion on purpose and then, many times, in court they don't even win their cases. They both claimed to be drunk to get a lesser sentence. The crazy thing is they don't even need to prove they were drunk, it's enough to say they were. Side note: How does this insanity work in drunk driving cases? If the government considers alcohol a mind altering drug (funny how alcohol isn't banned then), technically you should get a reduced sentence there as well.

As a Substance Rehabilitation Support Worker, I would like to state for the record that dyeing one's hair does NOT render it unusable for drug testing. Hair on the head is ALWAYS the preferred hair to use for drug testing. Underarm hair, chest hair, and pubic hair can also be used depending on length. Leg hair is hardly ever used, and this is because it is just too short to test, it has nothing to do with its thinness. When drug testing hair, if the test needs to show the last 6 to 8 months, then there must be a decent enough length of hair to test.

The reason why Lee’s fans wrote ‘Goodbye my ajussi’ is because the actor was widely loved for his role in TV series ‘나의 아저씨‘ (My ajussi). Ajussi is a Korean word used to refer to a male senior, around an age similar to the father of a speaker. It can be used in friendly or in insulting tone, but in the show it is used with fondness .. The actor’s acting is great in the show, and I highly recommend it. His wife was more well-known in the industry for her acting when they first met, and I recommend series ‘WWW’ that she stars in. She is a great actor and I really hope she is handling the situation well with her family. The another reason Lee felt so devastated was the huge cancellation charges the family had to face because of the police investigation. He was pressured about the debt he and his family had to face, and he mentioned it in his will that his death will solve the problem for the family .. I personally think that he actually was a nice husband and father, which made him feel more humiliated of the media’s exposures. As a Korean I feel really sorry for him, but still many Koreans feel confused and frustrated about his image. I hope he gets his name cleaned as time goes by. The director of the ‘parasite’ and co-workers of him in the industry has published the statement urging the public to protect human rights and privacy of celebrities.

So many more celebrities were thrown out into the media, and all were extremely big names like Blackpink member who I will not specifically name as well as the worlds most popular group BTS & also a specific member again whom I will not name were also dragged by press, wonder if it was just media trying to get headlines, or the police implying or leaking names just because of their huge status to get more promotions, or Korean netizens or fans who are anti’s of these people or groups trying to hurt them, don’t know, but it’s really messed up that 2 women who are drug users and associates with drug suppliers are still living will one day get out of prison and do this again, but a celebrities life/career is over is extremely sad, more needs to be done to protect them and the Korean government and police authorities need to re-evaluate what is worse, going against drugs, which is bad & can cause death, or ppl who rape women & children and ppl who murder, to me the later is more important to go after with the energy the Korean government and police authorities give to a drug case trying to put an A- lister actor/artist to than an unknown that won’t give them promotions. Yoon like Trump need to be banished from society

That GD Interview was 🔥 Lee Sun kyun was an actor, had a family, he did not had the option of being able to behave like GD and that is so sad. He was not able to defend himself and he felt so suffocated that he made a BIG decision. I used to love kpop and kdramas but more and more I see and hear them less, I can’t help but remember how awful that industry and Korean society is to them.

I used to be a big fan when I was a teenager - but now as an adult, I would visit South Korea only if I had a trusted friend with me. I did visit South Korea as a college student, but I went with Korean friends and they protected me a lot. Lots of these young kpop fangirls go to South Korea expecting like the kdrama guys, but it’s not reality.

1:31:29 The song LMM by Hwasa means "Lose My Mind". She might not know him personally but as someone who experiences constant cyber bullying & unjust hate herself, she can sympathize with him like a friend. In an interview, she once said that there was also a point in her life where she thought "will all of this end if I just d!3?" She writes songs like LMM to bring comfort & hope to her as much as it does to her listeners. "Flowers bloom even in the falling rain" ❤

@@LunaSolS2the recording only proofs he told that woman he likes her to which she replies that he never shows it. that's certainly not cool either, but it doesn't proof what exactly and just how much actually happened between those two. and regardless even of that, that would have been an issue between him and his wife to sort out (or not). It didn't serve the supposed drug investigation in any way. It had no business being put into that investigation or in front of the public. It was a blatant attempt of character assassination of someone they realized they couldn't pin anything substantial on otherwise. So no, NOTHING was proven as far as the factuality or the actual extent of supposed adultery goes. Were there unsavory implications? Maybe. Proof? Nope. But it served the police well in covering up their own failure... at least until he chose to exit it all.

Who knows that he's actually being murdered by those who desperately want the taste of big promotion and money. Last, I cried watching this.

Rotten cops interrogated my little brother for 15hrs when he was like 11yo's for an arson of a furniture store that the estimated costs by insurance was like 9 million dollars... My little brother was so sweet and even a little anxious before this happened but he still wound up holding strong and not give the cops a fake coerced confession. My other two fruends involved were not nearly as strong ans one kid admitted under coercion that he did it and the other kid (my bestfriend at time) tried to pin it on my little brother. After that experience i was proud of my brother and how he was strong and brave enough to not crumple under pressure by nasty detectives looking for a promotion or scapegoat to pin it on. However the mental damage was already done after this experience, and it changed my little brothers mental health drastically... Dont ever think that someones position in life inherently makes them honest and trustworthy. At 15yo's cameron (not my best friend) was convicted of arson and sentenced to live in a halfway home until 18 and pay back millions for something he didnt do and was forced to take the blame for simply cause no one was in his corner to help him. (Parents were meth heads) I still harbor so much guilt because if i had not stayed in for that skate session, i could've handled those cops instead.
