That wasn't the passing of the torch. It was mutual respect. Brady knew he was gonna be the future ONCE he finished his career. He held out the torch and nobody took it from him and if Mahomes made the comeback it was retirement. Instead its another Super Bowl Mahomes has to get to even his stats with the legacy of Brady. It's gonna be a "well did mahomes ever win a Super Bowl on a new team in the 1st year with no preseason? because Brady did that when he was 43 against mahomes" tldr Brady the goat and it's a far fetched idea that anybody would be able to beat him as far as the goat status. Mahomes gonna be remembered as the best ever quarterback skill wise but he's gonna have to really put that skill to the test if he wants to be goat. aint no way Brady wants that taken from him either I legit think that's the only reason he's around
