I met Paul and Linda McCartney when they came to sign the advertising agreement for "Live and Let Die" at Billboard magazine at 9000 Sunset in LA. My Uncle Peter Heine was director of advertising. He had to go down the hall and get the contract. I was left alone with Paul and Linda for about 15 minutes. They were both very nice to me. On the way home my Uncle Peter asked me what I thought about Paul and Linda. I said "They seem like regular people to me." My Uncle responded "They are regular people with exceptional jobs." I was 13 years old. You always remember somebody who is nice to you. Thanks Paul

I'm a student at LIPA (on Paul's songwriting course) and I was there four rows from the centre. Being from Sheffield having Jarvis was an unexpected joy as we didn't get told who the interviewer was beforehand. There were 250 tickets available (all for free) on a first-come first-served basis, and just before they started the interview they read out who's questions were going to be asked. My name was called out but mine was skipped for time reasons unfortunately, however I won't complain as after this the curtain dropped and Paul was there with his band to play a secret set with Giles Martin (son of George Martin) on sound! He played a spontaneous number of obscure tracks (including From Me To You for the first time ever as a solo artist) and I still can't believe how lucky I was to be just metres away from this man in a small hall hearing these songs I grew up with.

Patricia Burke While I agree that he's still the most gifted living musician on earth and he's the one Beatle that's always felt the most joy with pleasing an audience, I'd say the one Beatle who's most down to earth is and has always been Ringo. All the four of them have always had an enormous fame, stardom, and charisma about them, but I think Ringo's always been able to make you most feel at ease like you're having a pint with an ol' pal. I suppose with John, you'd discuss politics and world affairs, with Paul, you discuss chords, studio technology, and production values, with George, you'd discuss Khrishna, world hunger, and all the selfishness and ego in the world, while most people would probably like to talk to Ringo about yesterday's football match besides his drumming and the ol' times with the gang.
@patriciaburke2401
@patriciaburke2401 5 років тому
tlatosmd, What an interesting analogy! I recently saw Cirque de Soleil in Vegas featuring old videos and Beatles music, which I highly recommend. Each Beatle was, and still is ,very special and they all played an amazing role in our hearts. Paul will always be extra special to me. His stories of his family singing old songs around the piano remind me of my family’s good old house parties with my Mom’s four sisters, and cousins, etc. I was a folk singer in a high school group. The Beatles and soul groups like The Supremes, The Four Tops, Mary Wells, Dionne Warwick, etc. extended my love of music way beyond the folk genre, so, I thank them for that. I paint, draw etc. and play a little guitar and piano, so, I have some common passions with Paul. We all have our favorites and let’s be thankful we lived while they played their wonderful music together. Thank God we still can enjoy Paul and Ringo!

Yes, Paul has evidently grown out of a seeming insecurity he perhaps felt sometimes post-Beatles, or so it seems to me. Post-Beatles he sometimes seemed to feel he had to prove himself, and his ego was sort of manifesting in the wrong way, getting in the way. But I've noticed in recent interviews that that seems all gone now. Now he's totally comfortable with himself and a pure joy to listen to. So nice to see Paul this way, since he's such a big part of what we love about the Beatles.

I saw Paul in concert here in Vancouver 2 weeks ago july 6 2019. Like so many others, The Beatles music has been the background music of my life. I could not imagine another artists' concerts creating such an atmosphere of harmony and love as his shows do! It comes from the overall messages of love found in Beatles songs as well as his own music past the group. I am impressed so much by his humility, generosity and spirit of love. He truly appreciates his role and knows the effect he has had on people all over the world! Thank you Sir Paul McCartney for the gift you have given to all...and your understanding..you have brought much love to the world!

When I was a kid, someone gave me a Beatles Greatest Hits on 8 track tape. Back then, I didn't like the Beatles much, and I threw the 8 track tape into the closet. Sometime around the time I was 15, the summer before I turned 16, my granddad passed away, and I kind of inherited his car. I put an 8 track player in the car, and I pulled that tape out of the closet. I listened to just that 8 track for 3-4 months and fell in love with them. Today, I readily admit they are my favorite group of all time. I just worship their music. None better.... And Paul was always my favorite.

I really like how Paul McCartney answers the question, how do I write a successful song? He simply says, in his plain-spoken way, in the way that he always talks, he speaks openly about the necessity, when you're writing a new song to go to a quiet place, free your mind of distractions, and go with an energy that comes with being on the guitar, try new things vocally, come up with some words that sound and feel magical, and then just keep on going following it through, and seeing what happens. This is exactly the way I feel it is done when I most enjoy it! And to hear someone like him say that really is a huge turn-on! So forward to 52:47 in the video where he answers that question and maybe it'll make a lot of sense to you too. (The answer goes on to around 55:37, and during the answer he talks about the internal debate about recording "song snippets" with your phone, though you'll rarely really go back to later, this is exactly the way it happens for me!) BTW, I really like where Paul is going with his brand these days. It really feels like he's entering into the phase where he's going to be slowing down and not being the big pop star anymore. He's still going to rock out and he's still going to play concerts and maybe record, write some new songs, but now that he's got his gray hair showing and he's probably not going to update the face lift he had years ago, it's looking like Paul is easily settling into his "Rock Elder Statesman-Hood." Which is OK by me! I think he's wearing it really well.

Peetjemuwijk - Ha Ha, Yeah, People will keep a secret if they think it’s for a good cause, even the grieving family and Jane Asher , I recommend that you watch a documentary called the winged Beatle, it shows what happened, Faul McCartney didn’t even go to his fathers funeral, because it was not his blood father . . The Rotten Apple Series is another amazing look at the truth, and if you still have any doubts all about it, Have Another Look at the colour film footage in the movie called “HELP” & compare it to the magical mystery tour a short time after. . It’s clear to see that we are looking at two completely different individuals.

He and I share an 18th of June birthday. I mail him a "mutual card" every year. Paul and his mates made us all happy and thrilled. We remain thankful for their gifts. Love & Peace from Cav in Oregon! *
