Paul Rudd's mimicking of Pete Burns was so perfect it sounded like Dead or Alive would have playing live. Like I'm blown away. That's not an easy voice to match. Dude had a lot of talent. Try doing the "I want your love, I need your love" at the end. Even in your own natural register, that's super hard, getting the lift and hitting the notes perfectly is ridiculous. I certainly wouldn't take this on for karaoke, even if I was drunk lol.

I was a teen when Dead or Alive came out, I think it's easy to sing but I had a few hours of practice in my 1980 Sunbird driving my punk rock girlfriends everywhere! lol

@@gaywizard2000 No way you can hit those notes and carry them lol. Yeah the rest of the song and most of their stuff is easily sung. But he belted and hit notes that he carried strongly at the end of that song when he repeats that part and I've sang along to that song enough times to know that my rendition of that melisma is not anything anyone wants to hear lol. The fact that Paul Rudd actually hits every note and carries them is not as easy as he's making it look.

@@jademoon7938 I'm no trained singer but I listened to the album so much I know every single note and inflection. Youthquake is probably in my top albums of all time! As for Paul Rudd if everyone had someone like him in their lives maybe social media would be much less cranky!

I had to go watch the original to confirm that I heard a difference between the original and their version (seen it before this clip) Due to being SO long since I had heard the original and PAUL nailed it... Super funny looked like it was shot on the right cameras (probably had a few Beta tape cameras in the back) and probably an old Media 100 collecting dust or someone had good filters. :) Great work

there is nothing incredible about it. Keanu Reeves, Jared Leto and others are in his age range and look just as youthful. Just like any other male or female entertainer, it is rooted in the fact that he has access to the best cosmetic treatments that people with money can afford. Sure he eats well and takes care of himself because his movie career depends on it, but to say that he's never has had any work done is disingenuous. I

I wish they could give more respect to Dead or Alive, not only laughing about them. Pete Burns (Paul ) and Steve Coy (Jimmy) which they portrayed had passed away. And this song made it huge and was a game changer of the 80's sound. I loved the recreation because for me it means respect to a what used to be a #1 hit... I don't say they disrespect, but aren't getting the whole picture of what how awesome Pete sang and how awesome Dead or Alive was.

Dead or Alive never get anywhere near the credit they deserve, they had so many other fantastic songs that never made it into the charts and did so much for LGBT representation and it seems like people barely even acknowledge them with the exception of "Spin Me"

But the fact that it's such a classic also says a lot about the song. Again, I wish people would search for Dead or Alive and acknowledge them for what they actually were... It's really unfair 😔

Monkey Butt Dead Or Alive were a great pure pop band and Pete really had that punk in him. But he would have balked at the term ‘LGBT’, theres a great interview where he says “to me theres no gay community, there’s just people” and he never liked the community labels of gay, bisexual, transgender or whatever. He just lived his own life and wanted to make great pop. He was practically brought up in gay clubs in the 70s but didnt believe in the ‘community’ identity thing you hear all the time now

Pete Burns had a very deep voice when he talked so obviously when he sang it sounded really deep. So it must be hard to imitate. Paul is so talented..he followed thoroughly..Pete would've loved it as he was pretty humourous.
