PEOPLE WHO HATE CATS MEET KITTENS 😺
Do you know someone who is "more of a dog person"? Yeah, we do too! We took this as an opportunity to introduce these cat haters to the innocence of an infant kitten -- the ones who love to be held, snuggled, and purr louder than an engine. We thought it would be impossible for even the biggest cat hater to dislike any of these kittens. We put it to the test, and it didn't disappoint!

When people say that cats are not as affectionate right away as a bad thing, for me that's a good thing. It kind of feels more "earned" when they warm up to me rather than a dog that seems happy to be with just about anyone. And one of my cats is actually super needy like a dog though, but only with me. She always wants to sit on my lap and climb up on my shoulder.

As a cat owner I noticed that „cat people“ never hate dogs, they just prefer cats or can‘t imagine having a dog.. but a dog person quickly hates cats because they don‘t let anybody near them in one second. I have two cats and whoever comes over looses all the bad prejudices and learns how to interact with them and actually leaves liking cats

The longer you spend time together the more "automatic" the consent becomes lol. I can hold my cat in a weird position and pet her pretty much everywhere and she just purrs. 🤧 Never scratched me on purpose. We tease each other as a game (poking, running, splashing water) it's the most sibling like relationship I've had with an animal so far. Once I was taking a shower and my cat started meowing frantically behind the door. When I opened the door she looked at me straight into the eyes, gave an excited (and provoking) MRRRP sound, let her back feet slide and scratch against the floor dramatically before she sprinted away. Everytime I closed the door she would do the same again. She did it at least 5 times before I stopped opening the door lol.

Yeah like my childhood friend: she claims to hate cats even when they're kittens and then whenever i would present her with one, wether it was my elderly cat Willow or my other friend's kitten, Hella, she would not stop cuddling and petting them! ( I use past-tense because she moved away a few months ago and we haven't hung out for even longer ). She said one time that she doesn't like when they act like they want pets and then run away from her, but I think it's mostly because most of her family is allergic and she hasn't been around them enough.

@@yummi118the opposite happened to my grandma. Opposite because it wasn't a cat. So my aunt had adopted a lonely stray cat. That cat lived to be 16. Before her I believe my other aunt had a husky. Anyways when the cat passed away my grandma was quite sad about it. It felt like empty space. The cat wasn't friendly at all. She choose my aunt as she basically took him in as baby she found alone in the streets. But you can still feel the void. So then my other aunt (not the cat one) decided to adopt a dog my grandma wasn't so happy. She immediately rejected him. But quickly warmed up to the dog. They bonded a lot. The dog has an obsession with bread. So he would grab his piece of bread and hide it underneath my grandma's pillow. Then he took my aunt all the way to my grandma's grave on his own the first time he went to the cemetery. I also bonded with the dog despite being scared of dogs. I don't hate dogs. It's that I've been just scared of them for as long as I remember.

Cats dont choose anyone, as they have no idea what is happening and why you are there. The cats that 'pick out humans' are the most social and curious ones. They behave the same way with nearly anyone. While the shy cats hardly ever gets picked out. They can be just as loving as the more outgoing cats. So people, dont forget: cats arent human, they dont actually know the purpose of your visit. Choose the shy cat, they are sweet too.

Nope, nope, nope. Get yourself a dog. Dogs respect their human. Cats are like guinea pigs. Kittens are adorable and needy, after that they're cats.
@ladycoyote992
@ladycoyote992 Рік тому
Cats DO choose their human. You can adopt a cat you want, but if it doesn't want to be with you, there's no helping it. A cat that genuinely doesn't want to live with a particular human will try to escape and have 'behavioral' issues, because they don't want to be there. Of course, humans can bond with a cat and the cat can come to like their owners, but in cases where that doesn't happen, the cat usually runs away if they get the chance. Additionally, there are TONS of people that have happened upon strays or a stray has come to their home and decided to stay. Foster cats, too can decide they like their environment and the humans in it, so they indicate they want to stay.

2 caveats I tend to give as a long-time cat lover who seriously considered a cattery of some sort at one time - Try to identify the dominant breed if possible because each breed has its own personality and needs. i.e. ragdolls are natural people lovers and good with kids and no joke about tortoiseshell cats having cattitude. Siamese are like the Huskies of the cat world which are vocal drama cats. - Let the cat choose you. It is always said you don't always own a cat but the cat owns you. If you can let the kitten/cat choose you, it most likely will match your energy A stray cat had a litter at my place. Out of the 4 kittens, the lone gray one (the other 3 were spitting images of their father, another stray) left her pack while they were in the middle of play and crawled up on my chair at the age of 6 weeks. We have been together as "Siamese twins" ever since.

Some people don't know about the phenomenon were once you get a cat you will never be able to use the loo without an audience for the next 10+ years, hopefully. And the 3am meowing for love. And the waking up making biscuits on your face. They can be that clingy.
@Crossedflame
@Crossedflame 5 місяців тому
This so many dont understand, but if you put effort into learning cat behavior and body language and are able to tell when they want love and when they’d rather not and what is a “love bite” or what’s anger, also ultimately if your not willing to get bit or scratched in play or anger or accident than a cat is not a good choice…. They say if you slow blink at your cat and they slow blink back they love you and studies have found this releases oxytocin in both and human if a cat sleeps close with his belly upward it’s a sign of total trust and others…. Cats just tend to be misunderstood

I always think it's a major red flag when someone hates cats- not just "has never had a cat and is scared of them" but "has met them and constantly talks about disliking them". If you dislike an animal that needs consent, isn't always happily obsessed with you, and doesn't constantly match your energy, then we probably won't get along. If you know to respect a cat's boundaries there is absolutely no reason to hate them Edit: Yall really putting words in my mouth. I don't hate other pets, I don't judge people that prefer other pets, and I don't mind people that merely dislike cats or just don't want to own them. I'm talking about the kind of people that will constantly bring up how much they hate cats, how they're worse than other pets, etc. It's so much more common to hate on cat owners than other pets. I've heard phrases like "the only good cat is a dead cat" or I've had people ask me "you know if you die your cat will eat you right?" I don't understand how these are normal things to say. That's what I'm referring to, nothing else.

I never thought I would be a cat person. I was bit by a cat as a kid, and had been kinda scared of them ever since. But then when my roommate moved out, I was suddenly living alone at it got very lonely very quickly. So my sister suggested adopting a cat like she did, and it didn't take her long to convince me. On her advice I watched a bunch of videos with The Cat Whisperer: Jackson Galaxy, and learned that the reason I was scared of cats was because I didn't know how to read them. I finally adopted my Lucy at 4 months, and we were just a perfect match! She was very scared of humans, to a point they almost put her down, and I was so ready to give her a second chance. Dogs love us because of 40 000 years of genetic bonding. We have only had cats about 3000 years. They are different, but not better or worse than dogs. Dogs can be high energy, high maintenance, lots of hugs and play. Some people like that. But cats are more gentle, subtle, they show their affection through more acute means, tail in the air, slow blinking etc. They aren't naturally as physical and rough as dogs, but they will just crawl up with or near you and curl up to sleep while you're watching TV. That means the fat feels safe and loved, it is willing to leave itself unguarded with you. Cats just show their love differently. But they have the capacity to be just as affectionate. For years and years I was convinced that I was a dog person and I was allergic to cats when I was younger. My daughter has wanted a cat as long as she could ask for one and when she was 13 she needed something to help her get through a rough time so I finally caved and we got 2 kittens. Best. Decision. God I wish that were me, lol. I love cats but I have gotten more and more allergic over time. Recently, my mouth was really itchy for days...I realized that there was some cat hair on something my friend had given me. Put it in a room I didn't spend 75% of my time in and the symptoms went away. If I'm around cats, it's a Russian roulette of runny nose, sneezing, itchy mouth, tingling lips, tight chest, wheezing, and hives. Different combinations of reactions different times/different cats.

This is sooooooo timely. We had a stray cat come to our house a couple weeks ago. We have several in our neighborhood but this one looked pathetic. She was incredibly skinny and dusty. Her fur needed a good brushing out and she was skittish. It was a very hot day and she just laid in our driveway in the hot sun. I ran inside the house and got her water and a can of tuna. She came right up to me and I felt so sorry for her. After she ate, she hopped right up in my lap and started to purr. The poor thing looked exhausted. I laid her on a blanket that night on a chair and kept an eye on her through my cameras throughout the night. I couldn't stop worrying about her. The next morning at 8am my husband said "That cat is back!" and I ran outside to feed her. Later that afternoon, I went to get her food and ended up buying a couple cat bowls, food and a toy for her. I got back late at night and I was crying on my way home because I thought she'd go hungry all night because it was so late. I was so happy when she showed up at 11pm when I'd go outside looking for her. All night I worried about her. I went online and ordered a collar for her and wrote a note and attached it to the pendant asking if she had an owner, would they text me to let me know because I was worried about her because she was so sweet and kept visiting me. A few days later, my neighbor text me saying how clever I was to write a note. Apparently she was abandoned when our old neighbor sold their home and left her behind. She had been on her own for maybe 5 months! 😢 They had fed her whenever they saw her every few days. They were going to take her to a shelter now that it was starting to get cooler at night, when they saw the collar on her with the message "Please check for note!" I told them I'd take care of her until we figured out what to do with her and see if she was microchipped to find her owner. She wasn't microchipped but in the meanwhile seeing I didn't know what to do with her yet, I ordered a 2 story cat mansion with a cat safe heated pad inside to make sure all the cats had a safe place to rest on our porch because I was so afraid for her. A week ago, it started to rain and she was gone all day. I kept getting up out of bed all through the night to call for her (I'd named her "Pepper" on the second night and she instantly started coming when I'd call her!) and she finally came up soaking wet at at 2am. After sitting outside with her for awhile, I decided to bring her inside to warm up despite knowing our English Bulldog would NOT be happy. I sat with her for 5 hours through the night and let her out the next morning before my family woke up. My husband looked on our Ring camera and saw I had snuck her in and just smiled at me asking if our visitor was still here. That day, I went out and got her a bed, a kennel, cat litter box, blanket, toys, scratch play structure, EVERYTHING needed for her. I also got a collar with an Apple Air Tag on it, so I could track her when she wanted out. Otherwise I'd go insane worrying where she was. From that night on, we've brought her inside each night and throughout the day until she asks to go outside to visit her other cat friends. For the past 2 weeks, Pepper has started to trust all of us and goes outside for maybe an hour a day and prefers to be inside with us. We're all in love with her-(well except for the dog, but that's another story!) She's had a full checkup, received her shots and is scheduled to be spayed and microchipped on Tuesday. She's the sweetest cat ever and has always curled up in the exact same spot where I sat with her the night I snuck her in that rainy night. She just assumes that's her spot. It's amazing how she's changed our lives in a few weeks. We went from being full on dog lovers, never owning a cat, to thinking Pepper is the sweetest, most amazing cat EVER to walk this planet. I'm so happy she came to me that sunny afternoon. I can't imagine how someone could leave this precious being behind! When she sleeps now, she sleeps so content, instead of waking up at every sound. She knows she's finally safe. Her days of fending for herself are gone forever. She'll have the best fur-ever home for the rest of her days. 😻 I love you sweet Pepper!❤

One of my cats has CH. I had to make a lot of adjustements to meet his needs but having him has been so worth it! It's interesting to see how the other two cats adjust their play to accommodate his condition. They move slower, keep to the ground so he can reach them, and let him win most games. One of the nice things about people interacting with him is that he has trouble using his claws or putting any force behind his bite, so even if he 'viciously' attacks you, it's like being jumped by a teddy bear.

She's calmed down just a little bit now but she waits for me to go to sleep when I work in my office, even when it's very late 🥺 (special mention to being chronically ill and having a kitty here to support me through this). My other cat is also a sweetie, he's comforted me during meltdowns and sad times, literally drying my tears by brushing himself against my face. So, one thing about cats that people don’t mostly understand. Is that cats are very very affectionate, cuddly, and is loving. However, there is one rule and it’s to people they know. They don’t just love any stranger they see like dogs. They need time to bond with u and get to know u. After that cuddles 🥰 will be there nonstop. One other thing is respecting them. Give them the space they want and let them slowly grow closer to you. If you push the relationship when they aren’t ready they end up hating u because ur not considering there feelings. (And I mean who likes those types of people anyway.) Do this and you will have a successful relationship with a cat.

Something new cat owners should know what makes a "bad cat", the kind you are petting when all of a sudden it bites or scratches. Many of long time cat owners are puzzled as well, but there's usually a reason like rough-housing in play. But for sudden aggression, the cat can get overstimulated. Even a person can identify, when an itch gets sufficiently scratched you stop before irritated. True too, even a massage can become too much, but most of the time you get warning signs from the cat, a tail swishing back and forth or ears flatten. If you persist to the low growl stage, back away! Learn to read the emotional state as well as the physical.

I want you to tell some Akitas, Kangals or some Australian Shepherds that they love complete strangers. they'll probably show you their middle claw. I am a strong believer that most Chihuahuas just in general hate everything that moves. (and one big reason is actually that people don't respect small dogs the way they should. People don't give them space and listen to their warning signs like growl or posture, the way they would if it was a 60kg dog.) Dogs can be just as selective. On the other side... some cats are real sl*ts for cuddles no matter if they know the person or not. animals can have personalities and preferences just like people. they deserve respect and treated properly for what they are.

@@lilRadRidinHood Absolutely correct!! Cats are actually some of the best communicators in the animal kingdom. Besides body language and eye contact, they're also capable of about 100 different vocalizations. They aren't likely to just attack "out of nowhere" or "for no reason". People just don't see the warning signs leading up to the attack - and tbh, if you're really in tune with cats, it doesn't even need to get to the warning sign stage. My girls are 8 years old and they haven't scratched or bitten me since they were kittens. The only time I've ever heard any growling or hissing was when one of them caught a lizard or mouse. ..and I can't ever remember a time that I saw them knocking their tails or flattening their ears. They never beg for food. They almost always come when I call them. One of them is so good at communication that she can actually ask me a few simple yes/no questions. She can be across the room and do her "wanna hang out?" meow. Depending on how I answer, she'll either stay where she is or come running over for cuddles. Even when she's desperate attention, she'll just come sit next to me and wait until I'm finished doing what I'm doing. If she's getting into mischief, I can just very calmly say "Mochi, please don't do that." and she'll stop. There is _absolutely_ a mutual respect between us. Nine times out of ten, bad behavior or anger from cats is the human's fault. This applies to big cats in captivity as well. I would have absolutely no fear whatsoever about going into an enclosure with a captive bred lion, tiger, or cheetah that was well conditioned to humans.

Cats are more independent than dogs and not near as much trouble. I never had cats that were destructive but I provided scratching posts, toys etc. to distract them. Cats can be trained and the greatest advantage is cats don't BARK. Constant barking, yelling, and honking. I've even had to yell at her several times for playing loud music in her backyard at 7-8 am. When they have parties or a bunch of friends over to watch the game, it's not inside their house - it's in the back yard. Some people have _absolutely no_ self awareness or consideration for others. So I supervised the children and helped them be responsible for them as well as loving them. One day I was cleaning upstairs and the cat was sleeping nearby. Then I went to the kitchen to clean and there was the cat sleeping on a chair. She must have teleported. Only one child then and she remained my son’s cat. But after that, I was aware that wherever I was, she was there sleeping. Ditto with succeeding children and cats. The lesson: cats are affectionate even when they don’t want anything from you-food or cuddles. They went to the children for that. They just like being with you. Food and cuddles are extras.

We were told she was not people friendly. Would hiss and be scared of anyone. By week two she was his 'baby girl'. He would move heaven and earth for her. We foster failed (moreso no one wanted her) but it was fine, as the cat we were told hated people (and she was a bit standoffish at first) would greet us with a chirp as we got home. She would purr as we sat by her to watch birds. Shed sneak into our room at night to snuggle with our legs as we slept, like we wouldnt notice. Its like she didnt want us to know she loved us. He cried the first time she nudged into his hand as he pet her, wanting more affection. At first, he just came over for cuddling and sleeping, then he came to stay. That was my first real contact with a cat as a "permanent resident" in our home. My dog loves anyone and anything, and loves nothing more than cuddles. The Shiba can be affectionate when he wants to be, but quite often walks away when he's had enough. As for the tollers, one is an absolute snuggle bug that loves nothing more than sitting on your lap, however she's terrified of children, and every man that comes into their house has to survive 5-10 minutes of being barked at before she starts being okay with them. The other toller actually dislikes affection and will get up and leave if you start stroking her.

My own dog has zero interest in people except his family and is stubborn and aloof.

I always thought I was a "dog person"...until I started rescuing/taming feral cats. The bond created while trying to earn their trust is just amazing. When they turn that corner where they start to rub against your leg instead of avoiding your touch, it's the best feeling! 😻

It's always funny when I hear someone say their dogs are more cuddly. My dog has never liked to cuddle - she came from a very bad place and has issues, which really don't matter to me because I love her and I know she loves me. I just got a pair of kittens for when I needed to cuddle...

Cats are very clear about their boundaries, and dogs are more tolerant of us getting in their space. I have learned to ask my dogs if they want to be petted. I offer them my hand and wait to see if they respond. sometimes they aren't in the mood to get petted, and that's ok with me. We are privileged and blessed to have our darling pets.

Anyone who says they don't like cats it's one of two things. They either had a bad experience at some point or they haven't owned one as an adult. Cats are amazing especially when your their person. Any adult that doesn't like cats if they get one they will fall in love.

Some cats are friendly to all, but many cats are reserved around strangers while being highly affectionate to their person or a few people they feel safe around. I've found that people who claim to not like cats treat them terribly (annoy them, scare them, etc.), or they expect them to be like a dog and then are annoyed when they aren't. They don't understand cats and therefore have never experienced that bond those of us who love cats have experienced, which then reinforces the idea that they don't like cats.

My foster kittens sprint in circles after eachother and don’t want any love, but once they get tuckered out they cuddle up to me and give me kisses on my nose. My house cat Oscar is very jealous of them in some ways, but sweet and protective of them in other ways. Very very rewarding to have them around ❤️

I did not like cats because of my neighbor's ghastly cat. But I started watching cat videos, pet rescue videos, researching, and donating to rescues. I studied for a few years and finally adopted my son on Father's Day 2021. He was a spicy feral and I knew most wouldn't take the time and effort with him. He HATED me at first. I soaked up all the info I could. I never expected him to warm up as cats can be aloof. However, Jan 2022 he finally accepted pets and lovins. He is the most loving baby and he knows that we belong to each other. I also realize that my neighbor's cat did certain things because she saw some of my movements as toys and triggered her instincts. Each cat is an individual and you cannot judge all cats by one or a few. I feel so privileged that my baby chose me!

I kind of had the opposite eye-opening experience. I've always loved and adored cats since I was a toddler, and although I'm an animal person in general, I definitely had a preference for cats over dogs. But I've never had a home without a pet, and my boyfriend is VERY allergic to cats. He does, however, love dogs. We bought a puppy from a breeder, and I hardcore feel in love with her while raising her, and we later adopted a boy puppy from the Humane Society. Now, she's 4 and he's 2, and I have 2 such loving and intelligent German Shepherds... There really is no comparison between dogs and cats to me other than being long domesticated pets. They're just so VERY different as animal companions that they kind of "scratch" different "itches" so to speak in that department. My Mom also loves cats, and I noticed that this must be a cat cafe I see in the back! The nearest one from me also adopts out all the cats at their location (except a select few). I've never been to one, and neither has my Mom... But... Her birthday is coming up in December, so who knows? 😁

I really appreciate the woman in blue with the kids. So many dog lovers hate cats because they expect cats to act like dogs, and when cats don't, they write them off as "lesser" or not worth having. It's nice to see a dog lover who is very aware that she shouldn't expect cats to act like dogs when they're *not* dogs.

My mom was a big 'no cat' person until I was 18 when she got me a rescue cat for my birthday. She lived a decade with us and we loved her so much, and afterwards I've always rescued cats; had a black cat and an orange tabby for several years, and now happily have a tortie and a proper calico with my gf. Both are what we call velcro cats - they want to be by our side all the time. In our laps at our computers, laying on us at night, etc. The calico likes to lay across my gf's chest all the time, and the tortie likes to be a neck scarf for me when I'm sitting down. They're the greatest little gremlins

My husband swore he didn't like cats! I had cats from the day I can remember at 3 years of age. My Irish grandmother swore..."Love me, Love my cat!" Well I had this gorgeous white Pursian that was affectionate but at the same time could snatch a critter in the blink of an eye if it happened to come in the house. I had a beautiful Himilan that never left our yard but would bring live lizards into the house as gifts for the Persian that never went out .... The Persian had the habit of sitting on the floor next to my husband while he built remote control airplanes. The Persian would scrabble around in the parts box every time my husband reached in for a part. This annoyed my husband and he would push the cat away. So.....the Persian went to his toy box of wind up fish I put in his water bowel....took it to the parts box my husband had and dropped the fish in. This angered my husband, so he took the fish and threw it down the hall. The cat ran to retrieve the fish and droppit back in the box. This happened over and over until finally my husband realized the cat got one over on him. From then on he liked that cat and it was a game they played often. We had the cat 22 years and when we had to face the inevitable, my husband cried harder than I did. He was shocked at how much he had come to love a cat. Then I got a lanky, springy, feisty female Tabby that looked like an exotic and my husband was wary of it because she was born to a feral litter. He kept asking me if I was sure I wanted a cat like that. I called her Sassy. She settled right in with the dogs and was the alpha of the pack. She was amazing and made us laugh every day with her antics. When she passed my husband cried over her too. The wonderful thing is my husband introduced me to the love of dogs and from my cats, he learned the love of cats.
