Love the symbolism. This song is all about the MC and how he started out like a hopeless droplet of water in a barren desert. He began pushing forward against all the adversity, helping out people and making friends along the way. What started out as just a trickle of water soon evolved into a raging river. By the time Shido realized the threat that had been steadily rising up against him, it was already knocking down his door. This song and battle are the culmination of that.

Shido's fight is the best in the game imo. Just how they nailed the High-Stakes atmosphere, the transitions of his phases, and the way he gets more and more desperate as the fight goes on. And the cherry on top? This track.

This game was such an experience. Like, holy shit. I never sunk so much time into a JRPG like this and I was literally never bored.

Fortunately, I had never heard this song before playing the game. The first time the instrumental played, followed by the lyrical version, it made me feel something incredible. It's such a hopeful song, but not in any traditional way: This song feels like danger, urgency...But you're not afraid; you're ready for a fight and you know you have to win, for the sake of everything you stand for. It's also great that it's not a traditional boss fight theme; it represents Joker most of all, and not just _him_ alone. It's the Phantom Thieves' ideals he carries with him. This entire song is about not backing down in the face of complete opposition. Having faith against indomitable odds, daring to be the thing that changes everything for the better, even though it seems impossible. It will never not make me feel powerful.

I find it amazing that a game that came out in 2016 is still so damn popular till today. P5 is a really amazing game with banger tracks. This is now my soundtrack for epic comeback situations and Whims of Fate my soundtrack for when I go to a casino.

One of the most hype moments I ever experienced in a game before was when I started the 2nd phase of Shido's boss fight and the lyrics kicked in.

That final showdown when Shido knocks all of Jokers party members just to have a 1 on 1 with him was the best part of this entire game

3:42 is my favorite part of the entire song. It’s like the part of the song that lets you take a breather from the intensity of the fight and the previous builldup of the song. After 100+ hours, i’m so glad to say this is one of the best games i’ve ever played. To think that i almost chose pokemon scarlet over Persona 5 makes me wonder how different it would have been if i hadn’t given this masterpiece a shot. (No hate to pokemon players!!)

I can’t be the only who who spent more time vibing to this song than actually playing the shido boss fight the first time. Took me 10 minutes to actually start playing the boss fight. This song is probably my best memory of persona 5 when I first played the game. So many hours, so many screams and so many many tears…

The best boss battle theme I have heard. It feels the battle a do or die situation where odds against you. Somehow, it feels incomplete without hearing Lavenza's battle lines at the same time after replaying her boss battle over and over again for fun.

I held off on listening to this song for 2 years (waiting for P5 to be released outside Playstation consoles) because I wanted to first experience it in-game. I am so glad that I did that; it made the boss fight way better.

On May 17th, 2022. I did it. I beat Masayoshi Shido. Yeah, I know, not a very big accomplishment. But I implore you to understand how personal this felt for me. This game isn't that hard, but the tribulations you go through build up your hype. Especially after the ultimate endurance test that was Shido's Palace. I was Level 62, with Surt being my Physical attacker, Nebiros being my magic attacker, Melchizedek being my buffer and Trumpeter being my debuffer. I had Ryuji, Makoto and Haru. I went in knowing it was going to be the hardest fight so far. I knew I was _ready. I swear to god I was ready._ So I did it. 60 hours of friendship with my confidants, fighting in palaces and sheer blood, sweat and tears. It was the most satisfied I felt with a game in years. So I thank Persona 5 for giving me the fight of my goddamn life.

Just stop fighting it, Atlus. Rivers in the Desert will always exist on UKposts. You can't stop it.

Just finished Royal for the first time after a long break from OG 5, this track still gets me every time. Got goosebumps hearing this come up for the first time.

*Spoilers* What I love about this song is that it really emphasizes the fact that the fight between you and Shido is so much more personal than that of the previous palace owners. Throughout his palace, you learn that Shido is not only the cause for your probation, but also had Akechi kill Futaba’s mother, air Haru’s fathers death on TV, and is the father of Akechi. In a sense, he’s basically the root of all the conflicts that the Phantom Thieves have had to face, not only as the Thieves, but also in their personal lives. So upon finally confronting him, this song playing really solidifies the fact that this fight is personal, one where the Thieves only goal is to take back what they lost to, “The bosses of greed and fear” Especially in Royal, when you’re separated from the rest of the group and are forced into a one on one with Shido that’s the climax of the boss, which is honestly the best boss change in all of Royal. I’m not sure how to conclude this but uh yeah, Persona 5 is a really frickin’ good game, dare I say one of the best ever made!
