Pfaff 360, 260 sewing machine zigzag problem

watch my another video about what was the situation before this video. now I have overcomed the previous problem, but now I have new problem. after installing the parts and setting up the needle position the zigzag function does not work.

The linkage from the stitch width dial to the zigzag regulator stud should move when the stitch width dial is turned. My guess is that the coil spring may be pinched between the parts causing a binding problem ( I've done it). When setting the rotation on the zigzag regulator stud the best way is to drop the feed dogs, put a piece of paper under the presser foot. Rotate the hand wheel forward then backward to see if the needle enters the same hole when the stitch width dial is on zero. Adjust the rotation of the zigzag regulator stud until the needle enters the same hole then tighten the clamp on the zigzag regulator stud.

I'm investigating a theory that the problem might lie in the mechanism where the needle position and stitch width adjustment are. That is, those metal pieces that are directly in line with that white lever right inside the machine's frame. I last managed to free up one machine's mechanism a couple of weeks ago by applying oil to the aforementioned spot and heating the area with an "overclocked hairdryer". Then I just turned that aluminum ring around the white lever using slip-joint pliers. The result looks good, and the mechanism now moves with just fingers. I will service the machine in other respects as well, and then I can share more about the overall operation of the machine, but at least now the mechanisms seem to be functioning.

I found the reason why the metal rod of the zigzag function was not moving. The reason was that I had adjusted the needle to the center by moving the needle position mechanism limit screw. When I had gotten the needle to the center, I had to move the limit screw so much that the needle position mechanism was on the path of the zigzag mechanism's movement. Now, when I opened the needle position mechanism's limit screw and moved it out of the way of the zigzag mechanism, the zigzag mechanism moves freely. Now the problem is how to get the needle to the center if I cannot move the needle position mechanism by tightening the limit screw? So, in what order should I proceed to get this device adjusted?

I have the same machine but the problem is that it only sews in a zigzag, and I am looking for the straight line or is the problem. Please answer? THANKS

I have the exact same issue. All parts are clean and move freely but the zig zag does not function that is to say the needle does not move left or right on it's own. Have you had any more success or discoveries? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

I solved the problem with help of one guy from vintage sewing machines facebook group. I tought all the parts moved freely but I discovered that one part was still stuck. After removing that part, cleaned it and reinstalled it I followed the adjusting procedure from service manual and then it worked.
