I have a 7A myself. None of the differences mentioned here would entice me to choose one over the other. So, I choose to save whatever money I can with a 7A. About a month into ownership. No regrets.

@@painiswarmif you use original google type c adapter its about 1h40m. With non original it goes up to 3 hours. Battery Life enough just for normal day usage

With 3 hours of screen time it went from 100% to 50% from 8:00 to midnight. That's light usage I guess. I don't use phones that much so it's definitely enough for me.

Google not been listening though, just doing what every other phone manufacturer does, make fat phones that are not practical. I love my Pixel 5, its tiny, light and has great battery, and doesn't bulge in my shorts or weigh them down at only 144g. I contemplated upgrading, but I don't want, and never will want, a phone that weighs more than 150g, let alone over 190g. All 3 Pixel 7s are obese chunkers. Its getting harder to find small, light phones, instead we are being fed small light laptops that make phone calls.

Well, Google is catering to what people want, and most people want big phones now. If you watch video, and do computer like tasks on your phone, bigger is better. I had a Nexus 4, with a 4 inch screen. Loved it. When I got my first 6+ inch phone I found it too big, but eventually found the size much better overall because now I write with my phone using a keyboard, browse the web, watch videos, read books (I have an ereader too, but it's also a monster 8 inch so I don't always carry it).

Sd cards are kinda a privacy and security nightmare.. you loose your sd, all your data id at risk of being lost, unless they come up with methods to encrypt without being inconvenient

Thanks for reinforcing my decision to buy the 7. The " a" versions are meant to be a much smaller size version like in the earlier versions of the phones, so why this version is so similar is a question Google should be asking

Charging speed was never a problem. Just be disciplined enough to leave your phone plugged in before bed time or plug it in the car on the way to work for extra longevity.

5:26 probably if Google would allow it to charge faster, then smartphone will heat up to a dangerous temperature. I had a smartphone powered by MediaTek G90T, with 18W charger it warmed up to 40C, while using same charger with SD 730G powered smartphone it reached only 30C, chipset probably matters when it comes to charging.

You’re right. The heat also degrades the battery faster so I actually support Google’s decision as it helps the device last longer.

@@vvll9617 what also very important is voltage pulses, most chargers by big brands like Samsung, Apple, Sony, Huawei etc do not exceed dangerous values (with some exceptions, I've seen tests of 65W Realme charger and it wasn't good) Never charge your smartphone with some cheap or poorly made chargers, in the worst case scenario it can even kill your smartphone. Unfortunately, most charger tests i see on YT only show how much they match the voltage of the declared characteristics and that's it.

I hate how companies release products with incremental changes..they do this on purpose of course. It's irritating..and sometimes newer phones have better specs in most aspects with an exception of a few things like battery or resolution of camera. What gives? It's almost as if tech companies are run by either complete dolts, or deceptive people who just want to make a buck off of people nitpicking small differences. It makes our jobs harder as consumers.. Computer & cell phones manufacturers are especially infamous for this kind of practice, to hell with them!

Weight - Pixel 7a is 0.14 oz (4 g) lighter. But a smaller display (6.1" vs 6.3") is a big tradeoff. Could you please create a video comparing the lightest phones with big screens? For example, Pixel 7a vs. iPhone 14.

At this point I feel like I should just get the 6a for 300 but I had that phone and I had signal problems... nobody reviewing the 6a said a word about that, probably because they got the phone for review for free 🤷♂️ but yeah this is my delenma

The biggest difference is in the screen the 7a has an OLED screen and the seven has an amyloid screen deeper blacks puncier colors ... It's also got slimmer bezels I've got an extra microphone

I notice that you compare the still photos with the pixel 7 on the left but you compare the video with the pixel 7 on the right. Are they labelled correctly or is this a mistake? For me the still photos on the right (labelled pixel 7a) look more detailed than th one on the left. This seems to contradict your opinion that the pixel 7 is better?

Don't use 5G as its POINTLESS, turn off WiFi and BT constant background scanning and the constant "identify this song" and you'll get 7H of SOT if not more easily. On my 7a I never get less than 6H with 0 compromises

@@AdmrlSpeedy Bezel is preference, video as well, the "slower" charging is a non-issue. All in all none of the three would EVER warrant a 150 coin uplift on a 450 coin phone. That's a 3rd of the 7a's price. Plus you get 9 months less software support on the 7. So either you're really bad a math or you never even learned it. However, street prices are pretty much equal so in this case it's much better to pick the 7, but not for a 150 coin difference.

Pixel 7 is more of a "hobby" phone for me, just something to play around with at home shooting videos and using the voice transcription that comes standard with it. But when I leave the house I always grab my Samsung to use at work.

4 hrs SOT is as. You sure? Most SOT test on utube show at least 6 hrs. To get better battery turn of AOD, location, and turn on battery management if available. I got 3 days or more from battery saver mode where android one ui limit ALL use except for certain apps that I choose to run. Also my data is off at home and wifi only. Only use 5g when you have no wifi.

7a has 13 mp selfie vs 12 mp on 7. Also 64 mp on 7a vs 50 mp on 7. But 7 has better aperture than 7a. Mp isn't only thing that makes a camera good. Sensors on 7 is superior to 7a. But due to higher mp on 7a it balances out. 7a is better on selfie mode but 7 is better on quality in wide angle and rear view captures due to superior sensors.

If you have any issues with your usb port and out of warranty your phone is unrepairable. I have a pixel six and love it. The port is bad and i can only wireless charge. The port is attached to the motherboard and Google won't sell them . I'm semi disabled and have very limited income. I'm basically screwed. The pixel 7 is built the same way. Again love using the phone however it's a very poor design. I understand phone can break, at least make them repairable. A vast amount of other phones have a charging port that is on its own board and therefore repairable. Google won't sell me another motherboard so now I'm doing my best to warn others about this pathetic design.

especially if you are not concerned about video quality, fat bezels and slow charging then pixel 7a is best.

@MrTagalish 7 has better amyloid screen for better color but 7a oled is still very 👍. Cam sensors on 7 is better but megapixel on 7a is higher so shots on both are equal or indistinguishable. 7 has 20w vs 7a 18w wired. 7 has faster wireless. 7 has bigger display but heavier and larger body though 6.1 width vs 5.95 width isn't a lot unless u got tiny hands. Bezel to screen ratio on 7a is bigger/worse. Other than that there is ZERO improvement on 7a. 7a is however cheaper. That's the ONLY reason to pick 7a over the 7. Battery on both phones are nearly identical.
