Grit X Pro (and previous Grit X) owner here. Perfectly happy with my current watch and polar flow. Would be even happier with a barometer readout in millibars (as found on Garmin watches). Do understand the appeal of a greatly enhanced map functionality. See the benefits of a brighter screen with more resolution. Bought my Grit X Pro a year ago, found it to be a much more stable watch than the Grit X. As I said, happy owner with no particular need for a new watch. Still I’m human, so of course I’m interested in anything new and shiny… But this feature set, at this price!? No way! Love Polar as a brand, sincerely hope for them they made the right choice.

The Garmin Epix 2 Pro 51 mm is my go-to. I have been using Garmin watches, including the Fenix line from the beginning. Before that, I wore Polar for my fitness needs. Garmin has just improved such that they - to me - are top of the hill.

Route/Course folders would be awesome. I'd also love to have "single use courses". By this I mean, that when I create it on GC, it would be nice to have an option to make it single use. Then sync it to my device. then, when I'm finished with an activity that uses it, it could ask me, whether I'm done with that course or not. If I say yes, it is deleted not just from the watch/edge but also from my GC profile as well.

Long tong time polar vantage M user. I'm currently considering a new sports watch. For me most important features would be mapping (automatic syncing of 3pt gpx via app as I run a fair number of trails), long battery live and good integration with training peaks. I currently have to remake most of my structured workouts in polar flow, which sucks. Most likely do the lack of this in the polar watches, I'm considering switching to Suunto or Garmin

At time of release, the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus Sapphire was 799 EUR. Which I also find/found crazily overpriced... But I still don't understand why 749 EUR now are seen so critically, while at Fenix 5 Plus Sapphire's time, I feel everybody was kind of thinking "that's ok"... Am I missing something?

I also think the Grit X2 is a bit on the ugly side too. I don't do "toy soldier" or "tactical" styling. The notchy bezel and case with exposed screw heads isn't for me. Then throw in the high price and I think I'll replace my Grit X Pro with the Vantage V3.
@Asthbendriel
@Asthbendriel Місяць тому
That's an interesting choice. I am a fellow GXP user, and I wouldn't dare to use the VV3 on some or many outdoorsy sports. I do MTB every weekend and some hiking, and to be honest, I don't see myself using the VV3 without breaking it in less than a year, considering the screen protrudes over the bezel, and it is not as resistant as the GXP one, not to mention the scratches on the softer bezel. Design is subjective, but I like it the most, the screws are not exactly my thing but the rest of it, but the rest looks really nice. For now, the GXP works fine for me, so I will keep it maybe another year and let's see how the pricing goes after that, my only problem so far is, as everyone, the price.

Et que la connexion avec le téléphone sera moins laborieuse. Je me fiche des cartest, mais plutot de l'état de santé et une bonne autonomie. @OJK83
@OJK83 Місяць тому
My Garmin Fenix 5 Plus has A LOT of features… but many of them are so badly implemented that in the end they are not usable. So from that standpoint, the Polar M400 that I had before was much more honest. It could do well what it could do. It was also pretty ugly, but still 😉

Let's be honest friends, this type of watch hasn't really taken a technological lead since the first vintage V. It's sad to say it but Polar is really falling behind. In my opinion they are trying to do everything possible to get out of there, but I don't see a way out. Their technology is so old that I think they will soon close the shop.

Why depend on a dodgy OHR sensor and some mathematical algorithm when a simple proven HR chest strap sensor WORKS fine and accurate!?!
@thefitfile
@thefitfile Місяць тому
Comfort, convenience, and additional cost come to mind. This is coming from someone who always wears a chest HR strap btw. (Des)
@Pragmatist101
@Pragmatist101 Місяць тому
@thefitfile but why must those of us who always use a chest strap happily and comfortably be held to ransom by those that are not able to handle a chest strap? Why must those of us who want accurate info be forced to have to accept less accurate algorithm based stats? Polar make super accurate chest strap HRMs. Their older designs even worked in water. Now, we all stuck with less accurate, more expensive gimmick laden watches from all the manufacturers.
@thefitfile
@thefitfile Місяць тому
@@Pragmatist101 All the sport-focused watches on the market today continue to support chest straps, and even unlock extra features with chest straps (e.g. Garmin & Polar and various additional metrics that require a chest strap). But, for many companies, the accuracy of optical HR is not meeting, if not even exceeding (especially in cooler/dryer weather) chest straps. But nobody is requiring you be locked into an optical HR sensor. (-Ray)
