@justonecornetto8011 місяців тому
Elgar was a genius and a self taught one at that. A piece for every mood. For me however his best work was the Enigma Variations. Nimrod could bring a tear to the eye of the devil himself which is why it`s the semi official anthem for our Commonwealth war dead.

This March No. 4 by Sir Edward Elgar was played as Prince Charles & Lady Diana walked down the Isle in Church after their Ceremony. It was a Beautiful number for them after they were Married. It's my Favorite of all the Five Pomp & Circumstances Matches. Jean Mooney

NBC TV here in the States used this theme for their coverage of the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981. And the next morning, I heard the full orchestral version during the recessional.

@cnamandРік тому
It’s really one of the music from their wedding (when they walked together to depart the church)
@HarmSchelhaasРік тому
@@cnamand, that’s what recessional means - music played when striding out of a church service or ceremony.

This sounds majestic and processional. Makes me think of an awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
@hermanjacobs44252 роки тому
In royal context, awarding of honours and peership titles are called investiture but not ceremony. It is so-called because the sovereign invests his/her subjects high offices or honourable titles due to their contributions and services toward society.

@spencersmith2798Рік тому
While the trio strain of No. 1 is certainly commanding and memorable, if only due to its eternal bind with graduation ceremonies, the equivalent in No. 4 speaks just as broadly of England as does No. 1, just in a more fluid fashion.

Lyrics: Verse 1: Fight for freedom, ev'ryone. Build the ship and man the gun. Do as you have never done To set the peoples free. We, the few, the happy free, Will fly the flags of Liberty, Blow the horns of Liberty! Liberty! Till the world is free. Chorus 1: All men must be free. March for Liberty with me. Brutes and braggarts may Have their little day, We shall never bow the knee. God is drawing his sword. We are marching with the Lord. Sing, then, brother, sing, Giving ev'rything, All you are and hope to be, To set the peoples free. Verse 2: Wake and watch and work and win, Fight and farm and sew and spin, Fall the faithful people in To set the peoples free. But the day the battle's won, Never say the fight is done. Make the world a better one! Better one! When the world is free. Chorus 2: All men must be free. March for Liberty with me. Brutes and braggarts may Have their little day, We shall never bow the knee. God is drawing his sword. We are marching with the Lord. Sing, then, brother, sing, Giving ev'rything, All you are and hope to be, To take the torch across the sea And set the peoples, Keep the peoples free

The only positive thing to be said about that is: at least it wasn't used over footage of violence or sexual assault. Only for some ironic or subversive purpose during Alex's reception at the prison (not a part of the book, by the way - the whole sequence is an addition of Kubrick's).
