Such a thoughtful of an amazing film. I fidnt get to see it in the theater 😢 (even though I wanted to it had a very few showings here) so I rented it on UKposts. The film is so rich, so much to take in, I have to see it again, hopefully on a bigger screen. The acting was perfect. But the set design was also one of the stars. Loved it.

I like the book better. But Willem Dafoe is always watchable . Not sure what to think about this movie .

I liked your point that it is an unwritten rule that explicit sex scenes are not allowed in high budget critically acclaimed films, yet the film smashes through this barrier and somehow ends up interpreting sexual behavior as merely an elemental part of the human condition.

For those who haven’t seen it picture act 1: Frankenstein, act 2: Pigmalion, act 3: a reverse version of the ending of Pans Labyrinth without Pan or any of the other creatures. There you go. Saved you from 2 hours of your life.

My partner couldn't stand the intensity and depravity of it, so we stopped watching. I am really looking forward to finishing watching it.
