Hey thanks! yeah I think beginners often neglect the overall structure of the head and that's actually where a lot of the likeness comes from.

Glad you found it! There's definitely advantages and disadvantages to different types of clay so it depends on what you want your workflow to be. For mold making I like a non-drying modeling clay like Chavant NSP medium. For baking in a normal oven I'll sculpt with aluminum foil and then finish with polymer clay like sculpey, and if you have access to a kiln then natural clay like terracotta can work great for portraits so you can fire them and have a finished sculpture as hard as stone. I probably used around 4-6 lbs for this one. Yeah you can use other types of clay with this technique.
