@NumberSixteen BusShelter you make a fair point. The thing is they’re pushing this clown show on the UFCs social media. Slap fighting is entirely different than MMA and I don’t like to see the two associated. That’s why I care and think it reflects poorly on the sport because Dana White is involved. Not to mention how much money is going into this venture that was generated by the UFC. I worked for a company that did the same thing, investing profit into other companies instead of putting it back in to what made them money in the first place. It’s their choice and of course we have no say I just don’t agree with it. Seems like a huge waste of money to me.

What a dream job! ..imagine loosing braincells for the massive pay check these guys earn... almost an entire month's rent for competing. These guys are real heroes and athletes. True role models... not to mention the lavish lifestyle the pay can provide... I could definitely see some of these guys eventually being able to afford their very own bus passes!

It's CONSISTENTLY more dangerous than boxing, which is consistently more dangerous than MMA. We have so many deaths in boxing because of ten counts leading to death via concussion syndrome. You are under any medical supervision heavily advised, and in most contact sports, forced, to not partake further for a determined period of time when concussed. Is being hammer blowed 8 times whilst unconscious worse? Yes, but that's not common. MMA has proven to be the safest fighting sport due to fights being called the second someone does the chicken dance. There will 100% be deaths in Power Slap if it continues for a while.

Mma fighters eat anywhere from 10-300 clean strikes in a fight. When they go down, their opening jumps on them and swings for the fences

@CC Ink but John Hopkins did not compare them, John Hopkins didn't say it's less harmful, you made the comparison based on their results for MMA or boxing. It's hard to compare MMA with boxing because of the gloves, it changes the impact to the head. They say boxing is worse than MMA for head trauma. If you can't compare boxing to MMA what makes you think you can compare the two with slap fights? A significant strike to the head is comparable to a palm strike to the jaw? I'm not so sure. How many punches to the head can an MMA guy take in 1 round? Many. How many palm strikes to the jaw can you take? Not nearly as many. Maybe a comparison is much more complicated than your post. I'm not saying it's better or worse, I'm saying it's not as simple as you say.

@Pvt Hudson According to the 2016 John Hopkins study there TBIRC team found the avg 3rd MMA fight you will take more then 10shots to the head per round & for AM Boxing more then 16shots to the head per round... These slap fights has a maximum of 3 significant strikes (open hand is roughly 30% less psi then close hand) so for those saying Dana White is the devil for allowing grown men do what they want to do are just wrong 🤷‍♂️

As much as I love this shit I feel like this is gonna be a wreck soon lol. Part of the other slap series on UKposts is that the contestants usually aren't fight trained and are just random dudes that got into it. Knowing the UFC, this'll turn into an art + technique soon with proper mechanics involved similar to how you throw a punch in combat sports. And you're not supposed to do that so often to the head. Speaking as a trained kickboxer btw

This feels so bad, i imagine that the trauma and risk of severe injury is really high. Also the contestants don't seem to be people who have had an easy life, mostly doing this out of desperation or hoping to make something out of their difficult circumstances. Just a huge loss for the UFC for doing this, they probably don't even get paid enough to retire after a long "career".

@Matt It's not like they're getting slapped every single day or even every week. Professional slappers compete once every few months at most. The fact that Dana has brought regulation into the sport is great for the fighters because it means that there will be plenty of medical assistance and intervention. There are countless cases in boxing or mma of fighters being left unable to function properly. Just look at Mohammad Ali for example and he's among the lucky ones. Or look at how many football players have mental deficiencies after the fact. Contact sports in general require more stringent rules and regulations to protect the athletes.

They signed up for it, but that doesn't make it right imo. They are exchanging second long snippets for long-term brain damage. At least with boxing and MMA there is often some kind of career after, maybe running a gym or training program. But what are these guys going to do when they can no longer slap fight and are unable to take care of themselves? I guess because the participants overlook this that gives a reason for the rest of the world to not care? I get that the whole freedom of choice, and that these guys should have the right to choose whether to participant in a spectacle like this, but it's also very easy to overlook the very complicated factors that go into people making the choices they do.

i gave it a like just coz of the Kortney and Sheena match, funny as shiet, the way she rolled but also so wholesome, i think it was the best display of the whole thing. This is basically a brilliantly made parody of the UFC , it's both incredibly funny and sad in so many ways knowing that this is real life , but hey I don't think any brain damage is happening here and there is no way these guys could possibly get any stupider after this, only thing that can happen is some freak "brain" injury and we get some new savants ,we sure aren't losing any in this elite sport .
