Please stop agreeing with the people who said to tear it down, they know nothing obliviously of the costs of a tear-down and rebuild compared to rehab costs. You're doing the absolute right thing and not only saving money, but the environment from filling the landfill with the debris. Thumbs up, looks awesome !

@@ibeamslidingdoors86 The saddest thing to me is up here in rural wisconsin old farms which no longer are or perhaps maybe even are but dont do sileage, will have to tear down their concrete silos because the local municipalities is charging a LOT for them for a "permanent structure" thats existed since before many of those municipalities! They are extremely well built and historical in my opinion, and they shouldnt be put in a positiion where you have to demolish something like that simply because greedy government essentially. The people who own the properties are usually descendants, too, or people who maybe used those back in the day but since sold off their fields etc.

Door guys needs his own channel...little kids ain't gonna get smashed. That self leveling man lift is great product placement with 3 ladders on the job site and only 1 in use.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 4 роки тому
Not product placement. We couldn’t lean a ladder against the building there because we needed to pull out the siding to slide the track under.we had no ladder tall enough to reach from the ground (lower than the concrete). After much discussion, we came up with the idea of the tractor. It took me 20 min to get it ready. ...explaining all this in the video would be difficult.

Thats a nice door! Ive always liked the sliding doors rather then overhead.......you loose overhead room with overhead doors and they are so touchy. And often have an issue that keeps them from working as they should. Weve never had a hard time with the old school tracks.......a big help is no matter how heavy your doors are.........always put at least 3 rollers per pannel. A farmer i worked for while in school had 2 20x20 pannels and had 5 rollers set up and you could open the door with one finger. That roller system looks alot better though and by the looks of it you should be able to rebuild them easy enough with roller bearings from anywere like napa or even a deere store.

I’m in Virginia too - my 1937 track & trolley sliding barn doors on my detached garage. Someone tried to break in by “pushing & swinging” the interior slide door to separate doors to dislodge a steel pin that goes through both doors secured with padlock. So what happened is that they broke the suspension track at the center junction. Now only the other door can slide open. The one handgun from the separated rail is stuck where it dropped into dislodged rail joint. So ... I can’t find *anybody* to fix this heavy duty rail system & wood doors that weight a TON. Will hate to have to rip both barn doors out if I can’t find someone to repair.

Hi Tim, Looks like a nice door with Shane doing a great installation. There are a couple of reasons why I like overhead doors better. The first is when it snows.Sliders and snow don't get along too well. The second, is keeping out critters. I'm guessing mice can unfortunately still get through the opening.

Well here I go again, gee how long has it taken for someone to reinvent the wheel? You would have thought that, maybe, redesigning door tracks and slides would have been done years ago. I’m not slighting anyone the company that that this fella gets his materials from seems top notch I guess the old farmers just dealt with the fact that rollers wore out or whatever. I’m definitely liking what you’ve been doing and this video is just as good as the one where you had that other man come and stabilized your barn poles. Lots of great things we’ve seen and learned.

@glenbreaks5448 4 роки тому
Very nice door. I'm not sure why it's the norm for most to have an auto operator on a house garage door but people think you are lazy if you have an auto operator on a shop or barn door. It seems pretty much the same advantage for any of those doors. Stanley does make a heavy duty trolley and track set. These are rated 450 lbs. We used them on a barn we built for a neighbour/ customer in 1982. We built all of the doors from cedar 2x4 and sheeted them with 4'x 8' 3/4" cedar plywood which was then painted. We built 7 rolling doors for that barn, which was 68' wide and 80' long, a raised centre style building with full length 24' wide lean to's. The tallest door is in the centre and is 13'6 to allow hay trucks to drive in. It faces the weather and has stood up well, now 37 years old and still functioning well, still on original hardware. I guess the extra $25 or so per door for heavy duty paid off!
@ibeamslidingdoors86

Like most hardware made in the 80's was made in USA, today not so much. Your right, they were good hardware but don't replace with today's garbage.

We might need his help... We just moved and have an amazing barn, finished floor, huge! But the biggest door is probably 20ft tall, maybe 30ft wide, and when it opens it slides over another overhead roll up door, so you can only use one at a time. We're guessing it was for an RV, but we don't really need it that big and would like to be able to open both at once. We've talked about a roll up, but don't know if we can get one big enough. And we've talked about a folding door, like the hangar style you showed. Tough decisions to make!

Last spring, for the first time in 21 yrs, some sparrows realized they could slip in through the gaps in the trolley rail & set up nest in my suspended kayak! Ugh. Bird droppings all over everything from flying in & out. Grrr. Unless I rip out the old slide rails /doors, guess a better sealed door solution will be far too expensive.
