People don't realize how difficult it is to do what Phil Hartman was doing. Constantly shoving food in his mouth, eating while at the same time reading his lines & staying in character while not gagging on the food as he was barely drinking any water (or whatever) to help wash it down. There will never be another one like Phil Hartman.

Notice that, not once did anyone look at a cue card. People don't seem to remember that there were whole seasons when this was the case. It puts the show on a whole different level, and it's a big part of why the sketch holds up so well. And the camera work and staging, gosh they must have had a bigger budget than most other seasons of the show. This sketch was seriously rehearsed.

@@AdmiralBison Yes, I am pretty darn sure they are still red. Mickey D uses more green instead of red as a corporate color, at least in Europe (because they want us to think they care about the environment, see?) but I think the fry boxes are still red. One thing I remember is that at one time, pre-90s, I think, they put the sandwiches into styrofoam boxes. This would cause an outrage today, for sure. One thing I wish they'd bring back is the McRib -- mentioned in the skit, it was only available for a few years. The veggie burger they had around the 2000 mark wasn't bad, either. It had peas and pieces of carrots in it and it had crispy crumbles outside. Now all meat-free alternatives are those that seep artificial blood. They don't taste that bad, either, but I liked the old ones better.
