Now, he could've been a diva and barked at his ranch managers and staff, but even while venting he treated his people with respect and deference. They don't make 'em like this man anymore; we're too far removed from the depths of an economic depression and the horror of a world war that impacted every last American at the time. People like Reagan are why we've had it so good for so long; the problem is we've had it so good for so long. Our latest couple of generations think their lives are terrible and it's someone else's fault and are looking for a bull in a china shop to come save the day, when what we need is someone with the character and confidence and optimism of Ronald Reagan, who knew it wasn't up to _government_ to fix things, that We The People are up to the challenge and government needs only to work _alongside_ us, not _over_ us, and let us tackle it. You should read "How Ronald Reagan changed my life" by Peter Robinson. Peter was a very young speech writer for Reagan and actually wrote the tear down this wall speech. The book is a fantastic read
