Which films and series did the Ministry of Culture allocate hundreds of millions to this year, and what’s wrong with the production companies set to create them? We’ve examined the distribution of budget funds earmarked for “information policy” in 2023. It appears that the scandal involving the series “Inhulets,” Tkachenko’s dismissal, and the President’s call to seek non-budgetary sources for such projects have had little impact on the situation.
Tens of millions were allocated to projects involving individuals who collaborated with russians until as recently as February 2022.
Or those with close connections to the government. For instance, this year, Vitalii Sirenko’s company, “Filmstream,” received 30 million UAH. This company had been producing series with russian actors until the full-scale invasion and continues to present russians as partners on their website.
What kind of patriotic films can companies like this produce now? Anastasiia Usenko explores this in her report.
