I actually really appreciate that you left the right side of this duplex unfurnished! For one, like what you said, a lot of people (including me) like to furnish, but do not like to do exteriors and floorplans, and it feels weird to gut and refurnish other people’s builds. Also, it allows you to furnish the other side with only the packs you have, if you don’t have all the packs.

Challenge Idea: I know you usually keep painting the walls until the end. So maybe you could do a challenge where painting the walls is the first thing you do (after building the shell/floorplan of course) and then you have to keep whatever walls you picked and try to furnish it accordingly. The extra challenge would be not to just chose white or blue for everything but basically trying out wallpapers you don't use that often.

The fact that vidcon security didn't do anything is actually f-cked up. For your safety and everyone else's, maybe don't go back? That seems like a nightmare waiting to happen if they just let people do that with the state our country is in right now.

The only thing I'm thinking is: Dream has private security? Like does this kind of thing happen regularly with him?

At this point I kind of feel like whenever simsie says ‘i highly doubt we’ll ever get this’ that becomes real so I’m actually hoping for apartments sometime in the future.

There are basements like that where I live, we call them walk out basements. Usually they're in the back of the house and the patio area connects in some way to the backyard. It happens a lot on houses built into hillsides.

that is so scary somemone got on stage and vidcon did nothing. I'm glad you and everyone are okay, but I would be so scared to go to vidcon or other events again if I were you. I think, like dream, if you go to an event like that again you should have your own security as well. I actually started watching you and your builds because of the I Dream of Streaming panel! Even though Dream's security had to be the one to ensure safety, the rest of the panel was still fun to watch and hear your takes on it!

One of my favorite recent builds was a duplex. I initially only decorated the side I planned to live in, then I thought it wouldn't hurt to just mirror the bathroom, oh, but I should do the bedroom too, oh, and I could add a wall here to make a kids room, and Oops, I furnished the whole house

When Simsie initially said “a guy in a shark costume” I thought it was Foolish, but then as the story went on I was like “nah that couldn’t have been him” to “oh god I’m glad that wasn’t him”

I really wish apartments in the sims 4 could work like in the sims 2 where it was a type of lot so you could make your own!!!

VidCon seems to have a really bad security problem, Ive heard a couple of UKpostsr's mentioning this happening and nobody really does anything before its sometimes goes to far.. I hope you guy can like brig it up with VidCon, as it can be potentially dangerous or just plain uncomfortable. The Trash Taste Guys experienced this on a live show and was quite shaken even

you have such a good attitude about it& im glad everyone ended up being okay with the vidcon story, but that could've been a LOT worse. i'm really disgusted.. if someone ON the panel is able to perceive someone posing a potential threat before they even got to the stage, where the hell were security?? what's the point of having them if you aren't safe

Here in tornado country we call the "big hole in the ground" irl a "daylight window" and it lets a pretty shocking amount of light into the bedroom. I think you have to build it on the correct side of the house to maximize sunlight. There's usually a ladder (so you can escape a fire instead of getting trapped in the basement) and people will decorate them. My parents did a kitschy wildlife theme (think wooden cat playing a banjo) but my grandmother used hers like a tiny green house because they usually have a clear cover of them. Edit: to mimic a real one in the Sims I use the small saucer light and size it down to make sure enough light comes through and then I put a glass roof over the top which is kind of tricky.

I dont know why, but I love cozy homes. Im just never really into the modern stuff, but i do like this build you did. its cool your trying out different things. I'd love for you to add more of the "cheats" you see on shorts. I love the stuff people make out of debug and get really creative and seeing you teach me in the way you do, i would understand so much better! Love u simise

I wonder what kind of liability the vidcon convention has over the safety of their speakers if none of their own security stepped in, but regardless it’s an incredibly bad impression to leave on the content creators that they invite in the future

I find this whole "two houses, one lot" really funny. I'm not sure if this happens in other countries, but here in Argentina we have something called PH, short for Propiedad Horizontal (Horizontal Property). This are basically really old and huge houses that got divided and sold as sepate properties at some point. So if you rent there or simply buy and live there, you are right next to your neighbor as you would be in an apartment, but sometimes you have shared expenses, as the houses are not "together" but they share the land, so maybe the water line is the same and stuff like that. So, this concept isn't so weird! PS: But I still wish we could make apartments like we used to un sims 2. :C

I would LOVE to see a pack similar to Apartment Life where you can build your own apartment buildings and maybe even be able to rent your own houses and become a landlord.

Love it. In old city's in Europe it's pretty common to have windows in the basement. In Dutch and French we call this basement Souterain.

I like builds like this for the same reason as keeping my family together yet technically "living on their own." And using MC Command Center I can expand the household size to do it. It works fairly well usually, although I do have a save file where the family got to 50 people and I don't want to raise the household size any further because I'm certain my PC couldn't handle many more sims. I used someone's fake apartment building originally and that helped for awhile as it had eight apartments so as the family grew and the original sims' kids aged to young adults they could move out, get married, have kids. I also like doing it that way because then my sims can take their items when they "move" since that's realistic. Once I got to where the eight apartments was no longer functioning I just added townhouses to the lot (they live on a 64x64 lot in Windenburg, but the fake apartment building was built on a smaller lot size so I had plenty of room to build the townhouses, although I'm not a great builder so they don't look as nice as the original). I've tried searching for good looking fake apartment buildings with more apartments to them, but haven't come across any (it's hard to search that, though) and have tried townhouses as a search option, too. So I definitely don't mind when some of them are empty because in my gameplay I'll eventually furnish them. I don't own all the packs either so sometimes when I download builds like this from the gallery I don't get everything anyways, but I still apreciate that simmers builds them, even if unfurnished, because I do I'm someone who is using them in their gameplay!

I just watched the video of shark guy. I can imagine it was scary, but putting all that aside and just imagining it without context.. goodness that was so awkward that it was funny. The fact that he was a shark, doing the worm and then being dragged off stage while flailing his arms and legs. The frick did I just watch, an episode of the Office? 😂😭

i'd be more than happy if we had the possibility to build apartment complexes like in the sims 2 where you'd type in a cheat and place the apartment door as the front door for each apartment to separate them, it was so much fun!

I so wished they'd make sims an open world game. Several towns you can visit, functional bus stops that work like teletransportation but mock buses here and there, multiple families in a building, etc.

I did some digging and aparently the fish guy is from one of those dumb "comedy" channels. His buddies dared him to do it. But yeah, sounds like VidCon really needs to have better security. Guess it's good Dream seems to have his own security crew. Couldn't imagine how scary that had to have been in the moment. On a note relating to the build- Nice! I know you're not super confident in more modern style buildings, but you always do a great job!

The shark guy is scary. I am thinking of Christina Grimmie situation. That was also a case that did go very bad at a public event. So that vidcon security didnt do anything and he was able to get onto the stage at all is terrifying! This genuinly needs to he addressed by the event!

If we can't have the whole building apartments since we technically already have them, then I would take like town homes or duplexes that are connected like in the sims 2 and not the skyscraper apartments.

Townhouse is when there’s 3 or more houses sharing a wall, what you built is 2 separate “semi-detached” houses, it’s not a apartment or duplex as each house is owned, only the middle wall is shared to save space.

This townhouse build literally came at the perfect time! I'm on the originally Red gen of your Not So Berry challenge, but I changed it to Pink. I didn't mean to but my Pink gen Sim is a twin, and I've grown really attached to both of them. I was literally just thinking to myself that a townhouse would be perfect for them so that I could keep both twins together! (For anyone wondering, I swapped the colours for Red & Pink but kept all the rules. I didn't plan for twins but I ended up with a boy & a girl. I named the girl Rosemary for the pink name and the twin is Ro. Rosemary is pregnant with the Yellow gen rn!)

Little Ms Sam has a roommate mod that’s works great! You have to have the university pack. You can choose your roommates as well. You set their beds and can lock the doors like you said. They pay $500/week rent. They are NPCs and not played by you. Make sure you set the Roommate as part of the lot info thing so they come home on their own.
