The SparkFun QwiicBus EndPoint is the fastest and easiest way to extend the range of your I2C communication bus. The breakout uses NXP’s PCA9615 IC, which converts the two default I2C signals into four differential signals, two for SCL and two for SDA. The differential signals are sent over an Ethernet cable, which attaches to the breakout through the on-board RJ-45 connectors. The differential signaling allows the I2C signals to reach distances of up to 100ft. while still maintaining their signal integrity! To make it even easier to get your readings, all communication is enacted exclusively via I2C, utilizing our handy Qwiic system so no soldering is required to connect it to the rest of your system. However, we still have broken out 0.1"-spaced pins in case you prefer to use a breadboard.
The MidPoint also features a LMR33630 buck regulator users can enable to source larger amounts of current (up to 3A@3.3V) to devices attached to the MidPoint.

Coming next: Crimping tutorial for RJ45 :) srsly though - do the differential pairs use backward-compatible (slightly wonky) pairing convention that ethernet-cables use? That's A+ a- B+ c- C+ b- D+ d- or similar.

Kudos for making this product, but did you ever feel like you are using the wrong tool for the job? Sending I2C this distance makes me fee justl like this. That's a lot of fancy hardware just to go up to 100ft. I would suggest using RS485 at this point. And you can go 1200 meters at a reasonable throughput (just keep bit/s * length in m < 1E8). This has been around for decades, and you can use other well-established protocols like Modbus or CAN bus. All this can be yours, but with *fewer* wires.

Dear Sparkfun Noise may also come from your own electronics project, if you drive a high current, high PWM signal in close proximity to your I2C signal line. ON/OFF-chopping signals should not run parallel to sensor or control signals, nor should it run in the same multi-core cable. I like your new boards. They separate the I2C line out into its “own conduit”.
