Always love watching your soldering videos ; ) I do wish you could find time to put new ones up more often.

The beauty of soldering :))

Experience goal for sure. that was beautiful, and really interesting to watch. Really expensive equipment right there, also a goal.

Mikhail, greetings. where are you from? The soldering station I used is a Hakko 951 with a drag soldering tip. Some call it a hoof tip or a single flat. We get them here in the USA for around $250.00 and another $100.00 for a few chisel tips. drag soldering tips, etc... This is considered a cheap station. The Weller rework station I use in my recent videos retails for around $2500.00. I can teach a person to duplicate my work using a cheap $150.00 station called a weller WESD51 Digital. Tips are about $4.00 each and last a long time if maintained.

Big numbers for a student, I recently bought a cheap knock off soldering station for under $50 (I know most likely garbage.) I'm still waiting for it in the mail. reason behind purchasing that, I Really want to get some experience, there is only so much a professor can teach you, a lot of skill and knowledge comes through personal experience. Once I get into this field I will start purchasing better tools. Speaking of which, starting my first electronics job tomorrow. One more thing, what microscope would you suggest for smaller PCB SMT work?

What solution do you wipe on the chip pins before soldering? and whats the purpose of doing that?

beautiful work! what tips do you have for removing the chips? do you use hot air or remove with iron?
@jkgamm0417 років тому
For component removal of SMD's including chips, I only use hot air and flux the pads with Kester 741 rework gel flux high solids. See my other videos on J-STD-001 and rework. I demonstrate hot air removal of flat packs.

So i know about soldering enough to know soldering this elegant and effecient is not the cause of a single link in the chain, but all of them. Could you let us know what equipment you use? The soldering iron, the solder alloy and flux type for its core, the type of rosin flux you use, etc? I have found a poor choice on any of these is enough to turn any solder job sour.
@jkgamm0418 років тому
+Richard Smith - I am using a Hakko FX 951 soldering station with a large hoof tip sometimes called a single flat or bevel tip. They are made for multi-lead and drag soldering. For alloy I use kester SAC 305 lead-free water soluble at 700-750 F and prefer a Kester water sol tack flux for best wetting. I dont use rosin or RMA unless it is called out on a contract. Water sol has a low solids aggressive flux which wets beautiful and cleans up easily with a brush and water.

What kind of pen he had used as his name

What brand are you using solder and solder paste ?
@jkgamm0418 років тому
+kabile reisi - Kester 331 water soluble.

What is the paper you use on top to clean?
@jkgamm0417 років тому
Kimwipes. Static dissipative wipes. They leave the least particulate matter. The cheaper generic type of brands will leave particulate all over your board.

what is the liquid you have used...?

its flux

your just showing off lol. I wish I could do this . I struggled the other night trying to solder a chip to the board the chip got bridged and I struggled to remove the bridge managed in the end with solder wick. but the way you guys do it. it an art
@daishi55717 років тому
Use an SMD flow tip(it's called other names also) It's a bevel looking tip but also has a hollowed out section. Don't forget the flux.

That's just engineering porn of the highest quality. Is there any way to drag solder without that type of tip?
