It would also cut down on the whining about traffic if you can finish your lap and go straight to the pits.

I do too, but I imagine they would say they need the full cool down lap for cooling/recharge etc.

If Indycar would drive on proper racing tracks instead of Mickey Mouse courses, they wouldn't need to have two groups in quali.
