I was not aware of that personally (I was 8 years old when he died). However it would not surprise me. Apparently, as the band explained it on some of their documentary films and interviews, the media hated the Queen’s “over confidence” and “cockiness”. They do acknowledge the fact that they’re amazing -at least, but did not expect that Queen will make it to stardom earlier than they expected it to be.

This my friends is in my opinion, one of Queens finest, "Live Rock Montreal." I have been constantly listening, and watching "Keep yourself alive, Now I'm here, and Dragon attack." Those three being my main vocus. From Freddies amazing voice to his stage persona, Brian May's craftsmanship of his oh so fucking kick me in the ribs sound to lend his self to John Deacons unconventional wearing of his bass so high that you can't deny he is in a class of his own. Last, and surely not least, woooh!, Roger Taylor in a zone knocking and help kick the fucking doors, and roof off the stadiums. Queen is legendary, and to have seen them live in good old LaCrosse, WI. in 1976, I am extremely honored to have grown up in the age where kick ass rock and roll not only ruled, but remains the King, and Queen of ROCK! Here's to ya all who agee. We fucking love this, and that's it. Thank you U-Tube, and the very best of the rest. God did save "Queen". Peace, Roger Schmitz

Yeah, I agree. 1981 was Queen at their pinnacle concerning their live performances. Nobody came close to this level. Freddie's voice had matured into deeper, warmer voice, more confident than the old days, but could still hit the highest notes from start to finish. From this point on - specialy noticeable in 1985 and 86 - Freddie would be a bit more cautious, saving his voice a bit more and skipping some of the high notes. Of course, the rest of the boys were masters of their crafts, too. Too bad we never got to hear some of their later hits played live like this.

The Beatles were The Beatles and will forever be GREAT! Queen was Queen and will forever be GREAT! Two extraordinarily different bands. Both with unique styles. With band members who respected and didn't compete with their fellow musicians. We listen to both depending on what we need from our music at that moment. We love them both. Let's praise all the greatness of yesteryear. The Beatles, Queen, The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimmy, Janis and the endless list of the greatest few decades in music history.

Not particularly a 'Queen' fan but my GF chose the movie. Afterwards I discovered these Queen live in Montreal 1981 clips, the whole concert is there apart from a couple but not as a whole, Can't stop watching them now!
