If a good and well principled lawyer has his way he has an option - if he thinks his client his guilty, either he doesnt take the case or if he does to fight for a more lenient sentence i.e. mitigate the guilt. How PS managed RK and the situation leaves much to be desired and bulk of the problem is his lack of strong leadership, determination and integrity. If he had nipped the problem at the bud - insisted RK came clean immediately to Parliament and Party instead of all kinds of wishy washy stuffs and vague remarks like “the onus is on you” blah blah blah. It would have been great for the Oppositions and Singapore as a society.
