Ramya Yaraganavi Yes, her 10 year contract ended and she decided not to renew. YG has amazing artists but it's also known to make their artists go on long hiatus periods and Leehi was once like 3 or 4 years without any comeback. She's now signed with AOMG.

Ramya Yaraganavi I used to be a YG stan but now branched out to learn about JYP and SM artists too. About BP... every artist gets mistreatment somehow, no kpop stan will ever tell you they're happy with the way the company handles their fave but if you look at the big picture in YGE...Blackpink are getting the best of the best compared to all the other artists there. This is because of their huge popularity right now. They're a bussiness at the end of the day and they will capitalize on what brings them the most money. Especially since kpop started booming in western counties, there's soooo many new groups debuting now, compared to a few years back. So between competition being so heavy, military service hiatus and kpop status being all about numbers and accolades now, groups have a very limited expiration date sadly. That EXO situation applies to every company that, like I said, will usually focus on their newer groups. Also, all kpop companies have an extremely tight leash on their artists and their creative freedom. What upsets the fans I think is that they're a senior group, have an amazing reputation and talent but SM still holds them back and doesn't give them the work freedom they deserve while still getting the bare minimum.

Ramya Yaraganavi there's a "theory" that the slow decrease in content and promotions for their senior groups is actually a strategy because they want the fans to migrate to the newer groups fandoms. Add to this members leaving for military service, or some not renewing contracts plus the very frickle kpop stan loyalty...I'd say it sadly works 😕 For example, Promotions in the past year for Got7 had been the bare minimum compared to what Straykids and Itzy are getting these days. Don't even get me started on how YG treated 2EN1 members in their last years. SM is probably doing the same to their artists. The same thing will happen to all these new groups some day. Sadly that's how business works. Finally, being a stan is fun and kpop is amazing but it's also good to see the big picture and be aware of some things about this industry.
