I really like that the drive is accessible from the bottom of the case. If it had an option for a PoE hat it would be perfect for my needs, alas.

I liked that too. Very easy to access and replace if needed. All metal case. I am a little disappointed that I can't also access the SD card but this is not an issue in my case. For PoE I will test out an PoE to Ethernet + usb-c adapter that might do the trick.

Thanks for the video. I'm looking for a case for my micro server. Too bad about the plastic underneath... I preferred all metal. Please can you tell me what the CPU and Nvme temperatures are like? Does it dissipate heat well? Were you able to do any tests? Thank you

I did not do any extensive test but right now, it's sitting in a a small plastic shelf, in an unventilated space and the reported CPU temp is 49c. I can feel the heat being dissipated through the entire case so it works pretty decent. For the Nvme I do not have a sensor enabled so I can't measure it unfortunately.

Just leave a blank SD in it and then if you have to you can NETBOOT it and install an OS to hopefully do what you have to do with it.

Did you just know about the neo 5 nvme case? Or did you consider the one v3 nvme case too? They are from the same manufacturer (argon40) and i cant find a clear source of information vs why you'd pick one or the other. One V3 seems newer, has a bit more features (converts mini hdmi to full hdmi via board for examples) but this one seems a lot nicer aesthetically

Thank you for the comment. One v3 nvme case is more expensive and in my view seems targeted to a desktop usage, where you actually keep a monitor, keyboard and mouse connected for daily use. I just needed a compact version, with good cooling and that will keep my rpi5 protected in the rack :). I only keep power connected to it and internet is over wifi :)

What would be the fastest NVMe you could install / the Pi5 could handle?
@TricksAndThings
@TricksAndThings 26 днів тому
The Raspberry Pi5 supports PCIe 3.0 x 1 max so depending on the used HatDrive you can reach ~ 900 MB/s. As a summary don't bother spending money on expensive nvme drives since they will bottleneck anyway at interface limit. I would get any branded NVME (WD, Samsung, etc) in the lower price range since any of them will do the trick :)

Did it take you forever to get yours in the mail,too? I ordered mine in March and still haven't received mine yet.

I has lucky enough to have it available locally. A shop that only handles Arduino stuff had a few in stock so I've order it from them. I think I paid 9USD more but it was worth it :).

@@luigiprovencher8888 super. please let me know how it is when it arrives. from the data sheet it looks kind of big but it also has included adapters.

@@TricksAndThings Yeah it's probably not going to fit in your pocket or anything like that but it actually looks smaller than I thought it was going to be according to the videos I've seen.
