Is it real? Well, it's a real "arc" reactor that generates plasma, but as we explained in the beginning of the video, it's impossible to create a device that uses less power than it produces due to the Conservation of Energy, a fundamental law of physics: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conserv... (summarised as energy in = energy out + losses.)
When we charge the phone, it's just using power from the main battery. Plugging it into the house - also just a skit. Sorry to get your hopes up! But one thing is for certain - it's the most realistic arc reactor ever made - at least compared to the CGI one in the movie.

The nice thing about the arc reactor is that it could really work. And it's not because of some "free energy hocus pocus", it is because of the way it's built which reminds me of a fusion reaction. To be more accurate, it reminds me of a tokamak reactor. Which in theory should work (and they are still working on it) Just give them another 30 years and it'll eventually happen

The arc reactor has a built in feedback loop which is why it can generate that amount of electricity. But if that loop is not constantly sending power elsewhere it will get to the point where it will either overload and explode creating a small crater beneath it as well as destroying a few miles worth of destruction or someone will have to go in and manually release the energy in the form of an emp that would be able to shortcircuit and fry any and all devices that are within the estimated blast radius. So essentially what it is is nokola teslas tesla coil combined with the arcitexture of a particle accelerator along with a self recharging flashlight.

Soooooo, what happens with this arc reactor is it takes energy from a 6.5volt battery and makes it go zap? Is that all or am I missing something? How do you get the energy output? Does this actually create more energy or does it just up the amperage and drain the battery faster?

What if you have a rodin coil whichh is actually alternating coils and then rotate a neodymium magnet using a motor. Would that not generate more Amp-hours ? 20 Amps was a good start but might I ask at what voltage ? Also, what if you rarify the air in the arc section and encapsulate the whole thing in sound proof coating. Is it producing a heat ?

I actually think you would be able to make a ligitement arc-reactor if we messed around with swapping around the quarks (elements) of the atoms, cus if we could find out that a quark uses negative energy to do an action, and then therefore produces positive energy, we would be able to transform it into electrisity. One of the only problems i just can come up with in the back of my head, is that you would (like strange matter) need a so dense material that the influense of the quark cannot get out in other forms of energy, just like neutron stars.

James isn't a genius though. I don't think anyone his age would be especially impressed with his intelligence or think he's gifted. He's not doing anything revolutionary. He's smart enough that he's not dumb, he's moderately educated enough to not be ignorant, experienced enough at building stuff that he's starting to get the hang of it after a few years, and beyond that just decides what he wants to do and then works his ass off to get it done. It's the "Deciding to do something and then working your ass off" that makes him different than most other people who are working their 9-5s so they can have their comfy, checkboxed, boring lives.

I think something many forget is the Arc Reactor is more like a particle accelerator made small. The initial one in the movie the big one, looks like its actually directing plasma more like a fusion reactor in a way. There are a few in build in Europe, issue is handlingvthe heat and containment inagnetic waveform field. The final version Tony makes seems to accomplish this but some how not cooking himself internally. I figured he created a super conductor like magnetic field that channeled free ionized energy just in the air or broke it down from atoms nearby. This could maybe be a radioactive core. A lot of theory think on its application. The concept here is an interesting approach, seems impractible without better material used. Radiating yourself is a cool call to avoid.
@Lunas2525
@Lunas2525 11 місяців тому
It is a reactor that is based on a particle accelerator the reactor some how accelerates a stream of particles around as the power loops it generates a useable power somehow likely electron stripping from the fuel materials. The failure of the big reactor in iron man is that it uses electric power to make just a little bit more than it takes in...

I'm 73 and I wish I would have had the resources you do when I was your age. I love what you do with multiple disciplines. I used to do similar things when I was young, but I was your age back in the early 70's and there wasn't much available in the way of supportive creative tech back then. I did have the good fortune of working for Raychem R&D back in the early '80s and we invented and brought to market many useful items of new tech. We even got in on the creating and operation of the 1st commercially installed LAN. Heat Shrink Tubing was the Companies premier product but one of my projects was a thing called Hot Line, which is still available from other companies now. It's an inline diesel Fuel Heater. We also made the first flat ribbon cable. Fun times then. Enjoy it while you can. Remember this... "Anything that can be done with technology can be undone with technology. I supposed you could emulate an arc reactor like this much simpler with an automotive ignition coil (12v, probably more compact to use motorcycle style), and having the Arc Reactor copper coils as conductors so the arc bounces from one conductor to the next, then encasing the whole thing. Instead of trying to make individual arcs between the points, which should slim down the whole package.
