I discovered that rebuilding the cheapest Audi RS6 C5 in the country isn't actually that cheap!

The ‘new’ headlight is wrong, I know, but it was the only replacement I could get at the time. Headlight repair kids from Audi were on backorder too 👍🏻

Okay. First thing first. This car has no value for a proper car enthusiast. The RS badge does nothing to change that. Here is why. It's nightmare to service,as the whole engine is pushed far ahead near the radiator. Second, the engine sits right above the front axle, and it's pretty heavy too,so handling of this car is terrible. It's heavy, handles like a pig,not reliable, rusts a lot and the list is endless. With these money I would've got E46 330i or even M3 in bad condition and restore it. And it's value will only go up.

Well done, great to see one of these going back on the road and being saved form being parted out. I had a mint one of these for four years and at the time there were only about 300-400 still on UK roads out of the original 8000 imported. Still miss it and have contemplated acquiring a neglected one to bring back to life, and it's interesting to watch someone else cut a path to doing so. I do almost all the work on my 2011 VW Transporter myself, having taken advantage of Covid to take the time to learn how to do so, including a lot of factory retrofits. I think this could be within my reach now. Keep up the good work.

24:25 the click you hear is the magnetic switch that physically enables you to change positions of the lever when the brake pedal is pressed. It’s perfectly normal aside from being a bit loud on the video. You can remove the silver plate of the lever and look down inside, you should be able to see it, maybe it is a bit shifted because of the impact of the accident. You can even move it manually with a long and slim tool in case of electrical problems that way.

You need to spray clearcoat on the headlight lens that you've polished. If you do, the headlight will stay clear for 6-9 months. If you don't it will stay clear for 3 months or so. If you want lenses that stay clear for years, you have to find an aftermarket lend maker and buy replacement lenses.

Hiya mate, fellow hobbiest here enjoyed the video! Thought I'd leave a commen about your front grill... it looks like yours has been spray painted black over the original chrome (poorly) you can see where the stone chips are revealing the original audi chrome beneath it, If you give that grill a little rub down with some Isopropyl and a microfiber that thin layer of black spray paint will more then likely come right off.. you may just have a half decent grill I know this because I'm most the way through an S3 8L rebuild which is of similar generation in terms of age, i had bought a grill that was spray painted black like that, i literally hit it with some isopropyl and it was like brand new after that, and it didn't eat the chrome either, it just took off the black paint and grey primer layer in one wipe. All the best with the proj! maybe give it a bash :)
