Rebuilding a totaled 2019 GMC Yukon Denali

A new build rolls into town today. This is a 2019 GMC Yukon Denali with a low 10,775 miles. It looks like a simple hit and should not be totaled but it was listed as a no start by the auction. I will go through my steps to try and get it running and what to look out for on these and other front end hits. We will jump right into the build after taking a look at it. I need to find out all the parts I will need and there is some work that can be done before we get any parts so I will knock that out as well. Yes, this will be for sale on my website when it is completed and the title is back from the state.

I would normally never buy a vehicle with a salvage title. However, after watching the way you fix them I would definitely buy from you. Unfortunately I live in the Seattle area. You deserve all the money you make. I’m a mechanical engineer and I have to say that you impress me with your knowledge as well as your concern for your customer. The world is definitely a better place with guys like you. Best wishes for the new year!

One of the benefits of being retired is that I am now able to take on little repair jobs that in the past I had to pay others to do due to time restraints. This week I replaced a broken side view mirror on my 2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor using the skills and knowledge I learned from watching your channel. Knowledge like what tools to use, and where to look for parts, and skills such as how to use tape as a third hand. There were a few little snags, but nothing I couldn’t overcome. I really enjoy your channel and am always anxious for each new episode you post. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for putting out such great videos.

Lol, it was probably a suburban mom who crashed it on purpose so her husband could get her the new & improved 2021 Yukon.😂😆

@@taimurray04 Even with all the changes, GM is STILL wax-coating the frames of the 2021 SUVs. My 2007 Denali's frame is nearing the end of its life due to rust - the front swaybar mount bolt pulled out and took a chunk of rusty frame with it.

Another neat trick, using your winch as a frame machine. I was wondering why you had to get the aircon guy in to do the aircon, when you normally do them yourself. Some new gas that you don't have the gear for? Some years ago, a mate came to me with his 6 cylinder car running on 5 cylinders. We diagnosed the issue to be that a screw had fallen out of the carburettor and jammed one of the inlet valves open. We managed to open the valve further and drop the screw onto the top of the piston and retrieve it through the spark plug hole with a magnetic stick. Amazingly, it didn't bend the valve and this old Holden didn't have interference valve timing, so the only repair necessary was to put the screw back in the carburettor PROPERLY. Hope you get a used front for your repair, so you shouldn't have to buy many extra parts and we can see this Denali back on the road again soon. All the best from Queensland Australia.

Repurposed tools are always the best. I had an explorer long ago that someone dropped a screw in the intake and it hung a valve open. The valve broke and lodged in the piston. That shrine of valve in piston sits on my tool box as a conversation piece. lol

@@vehcor That was a nasty end to the engine. Maybe you could show us the piston in the next video as an example as to why you took so much care to make sure nothing had gone into the intake.
