@@jackphelan3219 Stro, Smyly, Kay and Rucker have all been terrible. Hendricks and Merryweather have been below average. Taillon actually has been really good. The rest have been decent. But the hitting has been amazing.

We'll see, I'm not sure if the Reds have enough pitching. But when they lost 5 straight coming out of the ASB people said that the Reds were being exposed, then they recovered. And their starters had been doing pretty well until this series. But the Reds could lose 20 in a row and their record would still be better than what most fans would have expected by August.

Not trying to be a smart @zz but Fr over this 15-3 run we’ve given up like @ least 5 runs a game on avg. Some of it is inflated by blowout wins where the game is decided with 2-3 innings to go. But we have a major problem. All honest cub fans know what happens when a legit pitcher is on the mound. - loads of LOB - 1:9 risp - 0 power - K outs with bases loaded - key ABs going to players who are misplaced in batting order - snowballing into an extended L streak. - it’s the same thing happening now only reversed. But to your comment. We don’t have pitchers that miss bats. - Stroman - Smyly - Kyle - Taillon Would get run out of the park in October. We don’t have - a true Ace that gets you 8+ Ks a start - A true shutdown closer - A true setup man Like we look great rite now but I’d compare this to watching Miami Dolphins lite up the scoreboard in early season vs a really bad defense who was literally just trying to get game over with. ATL will be nice dose of reality. Can you imagine the run lines ??? 0/U 14.5??? Lol

Pitching is vulnerable when the ball is carrying like it was last night, but that’s obviously true for both sides. Come fall, Wrigley will play quite differently, with cold wins blowing in. Then, these contact pitchers backed by solid defenders will be able to limit scoring while our pass the baton lineup will be capable of manufacturing some runs. We’re better than you give us credit for NOW, after making many adjustments to how we started the season, and are pretty well positioned to make a run. Some cautious optimism is warranted. This may not be THE year for this core, but if they can retain Belli and Candelario, and with what’s coming from the farm, the future is bright.
