Such as if you share this post so and so will give you money. I am constantly fact checking and trying to share truth with them but they reject it because they read something opposite on the internet.

Every time I argue with these people I keep hearing the same mantra “ Do the research” - as that interviewee pointed out most of these people think research is watching a bunch of Alex Jones UKposts videos. They have zero critical reasoning skills, if the idea appeals to them then it must be true. It is incredibly frustrating and frankly quite terrifying engaging with them at all.

It's a comfort blanket for their insecurity, when they don't understand why they aren't in control of their lives.

I really enjoyed what she had to say. She was talking about how important it is to remember that the conspiracy believers are not just all one thing. They have individual stories; in their minds, they are the heroes of their story, just as we all are. They are human and many of them could be reached if we don't just call them crazy and dismiss their concerns, which are based in real problems that we would all do well to address.
