I just love how practically the entire arena is booing at the end and she has the cheek, the nerve, the gall, the audacity and the gumption to say “I love you Europe. Thank you for loving me” at the end. What an absolute Queen.

The audience (especially the Greeks) was booing right before Silvia began to sing, and not without reasons. Silvia spent the whole week at provoking other contestants but it was more like humour on 2nd or even 3rd level. Unfortunately, the press and the Greeks took it for granted. Not because of Silvia's song or performance, but only because of her diva attitude.

@@k.r.i.s.t.a.q.n.u.s.h.i. It's only facts 🤷 It happened that way. That's why the Greek audience reacted badly. And if you look at the detailed results, you won't be surprised which countries gave Silvia between 5 and 8 points and which other ones lower scores or no point at all.

The whole thing couldn’t be more absurdist and then the response of the press was to unwittingly feed into the absurdity 😂 She called everyone a cunt, called Treble sluts… it’s rather iconic how she rickrolled literally everyone.

Funny thing is that the artist behind Silvia Night is an amazing singer. If I'm not wrong she has done a lot of dubbing for Disney movies. This was just one of the biggest trolls in Eurovision. She got to piss an entire crew who fully believed she was real. An icon and the moment.

Not exactly true, Telex trolled all of Eurovision Europe in 1980 with "Eurovision". Their goal was "zero points" but they got some anyway leaving the zero points to an unfortunate Morroco, which had a song a few years ahead of it's time.

A lot of y'all should really explore who Silvia Night actually was. She's a genius troll and totally memorable persona, but she brought all the booing on herself. It's not that Greek couldn't take a joke, it's that her behaviour was just too much, even for Eurovision. Still an icon though

This is why Silvia Night was controversial throughout the week of rehearsals. It was actually an extravagant diva character created and performed by actress Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir. She spent her time openly mocking other competitors, treating journalists with the utmost contempt, and making unpleasant comments about Greece and its people. She went so far as to accuse the Swedish participant, Carola, of wanting to poison her. This permanent happening was however taken to the first degree by the media and organizers. The singer was conspired many times during rehearsals, then welcomed on stage by whistles and boos of an unprecedented magnitude.

Wasn't there also something where she called the production team "fucking r----ds" during rehearsals. (and I think the behind the scenes video of this is still on youtube) Press at the time mistakenly heard that as "fucking Greeks", and they reported her as saying such.

Because Silvia was a diva character invented and played by an actress, who spent her time provoking Greeks by mocking their country and criticizing other contestants. All with second and third humour degree. Silvia even accused Carola for having tried to poison her. During 15 days, she was the incarnation of pure capricious extravaganza. And she played her character with perfection.
