That's a great hike and awesome bush kitchen! So simple. My wife & I are really enjoying your videos, we know what work goes into it and you really do a great job of every part of filming, story telling and editing. Your comment really struck a chord with me about accepting alternate views. This is something I believe in passionately and have been training myself to be better at. Totally agree that the division is ruining humanity. Keep up the great work and thanks for the videos.

I was in Charlotte when the Pipeline incident happened. Luckily I had the presence of mind to fill up my tank so I could continue the rest of my journey to Florida the next day. People in NC totally lost it. Traffic was nuts and stations were over run or closed altogether. Nowhere else did I see the panic buying I did there, thank God.
@P_RO_

It took longer but it happened here in SC as well. Went to work passing a dozen stations and everything seemed normal. On the way home late afternoon prices had shot up on the signs and only 2 stations had gas.

We were able to get some car camping in on Memorial day weekend. The best part about it was we took our 4 year old grandson on his first trip!! He loved sleeping in a tent, flipping rocks in the creek for Salamanders and Newt's, and catching Rainbow Trout! I think it was more fun watching him have fun than anything else!!! BTW I also carry a G20 when out, more for two legged critters than 4, but it will take care of both.

It has gotten hot in Oklahoma, already in the 90 degree weather with high humidity.. already have had electricity to go out for 1 hr. the other morning.. Not good! We are in Charlottesville, VA. Mountain ridges are nearby. BUT...my best days are past and my wife and our family spent them hiking in the Green Mountains of Vermont and Massachusetts. Kudos to you for making the most of your active years! I believe that MOST outdoor people feel safer with a suitable weapon at hand. I owned a 'large lot' in a rural subdivision in Texas: I made a raised bed campsite not too far from the house. We had feral hogs, we had a female bobcat who was no threat at all, we had wonderful owls; we had coyotes and wolves because we backed up to a 40,000 acre Ranch and oil operation. We had this snake and that snake. I enjoyed my camping, in part because I was experienced and trained in defensive shotgunning. Did I need that? NO. Did I appreciate having the skills: YES. And I slept a bit more secure. As YOU say: different choices for different folks.

Luke👍👍 Nice hike in a nice location, lush and green. Drone footage shows the denseness of the forest. Way better meal on this hike than the usual pre-packaged dried, dehydrated etc., looked delicious. I carry openly when in back country, keep it handy for close encounters. Love your comments regarding self defence. I live in Australia and self defence is illegal here in that you cannot use a gun or knife to defend yourself against a criminal. Never lose your 2nd amendment, self defence is a natural right, period. When I do travel in the US I use a bear spray for hikes..for a start I’d hate to injure any animal just living in it’s own environment and the spray is non lethal.. love these videos, thanks Luke...

Instead of drinking bad coffee, look into something called a Primula Brew Buddy Portable Pour Over, Reusable Fine Mesh Filter. Put it on top of your coffee cup with a tablespoon full of coffee grounds in the filter, or a couple of tablespoons if you like it stronger. Pour boiling water through the grounds and into the cup. Presto! It weighs about an ounce and is 4 or so inches across - very easy to carry. Available on Amazon.

Steven Rinella, the famous hunter, tells a story about the time an Alaskan brown bear charged right past him through the middle of his small hunting party before any of the well-armed men had a chance to raise a weapon. The enormous size and speed of the animal was stunning and left Rinella with real doubts about their preparedness -- and some of the party were very experienced with the Alaskan wilderness.

I love day hikes. The longest one I done is 15 miles from 7000 feet to 8350 feet but I went up first and down at the end of the day. Not bad for a 68 year old. My plans are I am going on a 3 day camp out this weekend. Starting from 7000 feet to about 9600 feet. In a couple of weeks a 7 to 8 day, 35 mile camp out. The pass I will go over will be 12,200 feet. Going be a great time!
