Any iOS engineer's worst nightmare is having to deal with storyboard conflicts, or even worse, conflicts in their Xcode project. The Xcode project file is an old-style plist (Next style) based on braces to delimit the hierarchy, and modifying it from any conflict merge tool, no matter how sophisticated it is, is near impossible. There are tools that help you get rid of your Xcode project altogether and generates it for you on demand, no matter how complicated your project is. XcodeGen and Tuist.io are the most powerful tools for this job and offer human readable configuration through a YAML or JSON for the former and Swift for the latter. They also allow sharing build settings across multiple targets, building on your CI and many more.
