I can't imagine the cost that is associate with a build this extreme. The time and effort on a massive scale along with manpower hours plow my mind. While building another building for your business along with being a veterinarian. While managing a UKposts site and other sites too. Plus deal with your hobbies along with your personal life. While all this time we're in a virus. Hats Off

A word of warning my family back when I was a kid we moved into a massive farm mansion house thing and we honestly felt like we never saw eachother in the house when they are that big everyone has there own bathroom its a weird loneliness you feel living in a house that big. Recommended ergonomics for TV height: Eye level 3/4 to the top. Hanging TVs so high is a huge pet peeve. No idea why people do this.

You can never go wrong with the water proof stuff. We usually wrap the house with stucco wrap then go over it with the waterproof felt paper and lathe. The pieces they put on the corners of the windows are expansion joints. They keep the wall from cracking when the house moves.

Expansion joint metal used so stucco can flex , helps prevent cracking ... 1 coat is scratch coat (rough with grooves ) , 2 coat is brown coat (smooth) , 3rd coat is color coat

That's vertical strips coming up from the windows are for expansion joints. I'm English. We call it render and the metal chicken wire trim are render beads, corner beads and stop beads. Awesome house mate 🙂

Building code dictates 2 layers of weather barrier when stucco is used. The 'metal runners' are control joints to mitigate cracks.

Hey Matt, while you are in construction, don’t forget to run Cat 6/7 ethernet to all of the rooms. I’m an IT Specialist and I tell everyone that’s building a new house to put that in. As a UKpostsr, you will regret not having the drops in your desired rooms when you are uploading. The square footage of your new house alone is amazing! Good looking out, love your videos!

Scratch, brown, and finish coat. Make sure they nail the details on the lath and have a good air gap so it can dry. Stucco is a reservoir cladding, so it will get wet and stay wet a while. Dont rush the application of the finish coat though, let the brown coat cure at least 28 days. Mist cure it with a hose or sprinkler every so often to make it harder and tougher.

Those vertical things over the windows are control joints so it’s less likely to crack if there is any movement from the house/slab.

Him saying it’s okay if a few studs are off because the drywall hides it. Me who does drywall as a living facepalming and getting mad😂

IMHO Doing drywall well is an art form. I've tried on a number of occasions and it always seems to take me forever to get a joint looking as it should. The guys that do it well are fast and amazing to watch.

Maybe it was supposed to be that those previous owners started creation for you to finish. Their destiny ended up to be found somewhere else while yours is on the mountain top with your wonderful family . ❤️ After massive work it can be hard for you to think all this as a gift. I do think it is a way to think... as a blessing ❤️ There is so few people in the world to have such a home.

Construction note, in 1962 while watching a county courthouse being built, I was 10, I asked a construction super why the edge of the concrete form jutted out at the bottom. He told me the block wall sets on top and this part that juts out at a couple inches lower is the brick LEDGE. That is what the brick sets on and that portion extends down to the footing to carry the weight of brick or stone. Love renovation. I would highly recommend spraying in the exterior walls of the garage. My in-laws did it and added a insulated garage door, absolute game changer. Makes me want to rip out the sheetrock in my garage and do the same. House is looking incredible, Matt.

Hi Chris from UK here. Lath as you refer to the work commencing is from the 17-century Lath and plaster technique used to build structures.

The "runners" coming down the sides gap it out to help it expand and contract, so it doesn't crack, because concrete cracks if it expands and contracts with no spacer.

I went to school for plastering, we use the metal edging or "runners" to use as a point while applying the mud to make the wall perfectly level and flat

You should have a outdoor movie area on the back porch. Like a projector screen come down from the ceiling

Stucco ... nice enough. Dryvit system...awesome. And FYI, the exterior and roof is done first because it’s heavy (called "loading"). If the drywall is done before loading the weight will compress the interior walls and the seams will crack. And make sure they drywall hangers get every screw into a stud. The missed ones will eventually bulge through the finish plaster and paint as the house breathes(expands and contracts) with temperature changes.

Tape those gaps on the sheetrock for the insulators or they are going to have to!!! I've been a sprayer for 7 years now. and you should totally get closed cell foam and not open its 100% better! makes you walls way stronger!!!

The Metal joint you were unsure of is called Expansion joint. It breaks up the wall into smaller sections to make it it easier to stucco. When dealing with stucco , your always working against the dry time of stucco. The expansion joint allows you to stop at the joint & focus on one section rather than having to do the whole wall at once .

I hate waiting over a month for each episode but I also don’t want them to end!! We better get vlogs from inside all the time once you move in
