The Muslim community in Granada ( or when I was there at least) were able to integrate while also adhering to foundational Islamic principles and teachings, neither being insular, isolating themselves from Spanish society, nor secular just 'to be accepted' . And of course, they stayed away from the insanity of subversive ideology or 'brotherhoods' that claim to be giving 'Dawah or defending Islam'( when such groups actually cause more harm than good). In a nutshell, they displayed a collective, proactive wisdom and application about what it meant to be on the middle path. I guess, this could be because they are, in a way, the direct inheritors of The Andalus. Just my experience and opinion, but I hope it answers your question.
